  • Step Right Up to Harding's Positive Behavior Carnival Extravaganza!

    Funded Feb 27, 2020

I appreciate all the generous donations towards our school carnival! It is so nice that the student who try their best everyday and follow school wide rules will be recognized in a fabulous way.The students are going to have so much fun and it would not have been possible without your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McAllister

  • Clean Clothes Count

    Funded Jan 23, 2019

I cannot thank you enough for your generous donations towards funding "Clean Clothes Count". Words cannot describe the impact the washer and dryer have brought to my school. The students were brought into the sensory room and their faces immediately lite up when they say the washer and dryer were installed. Staff members also donated laundry baskets, detergent and an iron and ironing board.

The low-inc classes are taking turns to sign up to use the washer and dryer in small groups and learn how to not only sort and fold their laundry, but they also are learning how to operate a washer and a dryer. For our students who have a difficult time communicating, we have made a PEC visual schedule on how to operate the washer and the dryer.

Students who would usually miss school due to not having a clean uniform, are now coming to school to wash their uniforms so they do not miss school. The school sports uniforms are now washed after every games and each student is prepared with all their uniform needs. The impact of the washer and dryer are allowing all students to learn responsibility and independent living skills. The pictures attached are of one of our low-inc classes washing their Hawk Nest uniforms.

We cannot thank you enough for all your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. McAllister

I am the Special Education Liaison and have made it my goal to provide clean clothing for my students, through an initiative called “Clean Clothes Count”. We are creating a sensory room for our students with multiple disabilities. This room will aid in them learning how to care for themselves. The washer and dryer placed in this room, where there is a machine hook-up, will be used to teach these students how to wash their own clothing. We want to teach these students independence and show them the value they can add to their own lives and the lives of their fellow students with hard work and proper hygiene. A washer and dryer would allow us to develop and implement this program for our disabled students. The washer and dryer will also be used for students who do not have access to one at their homes. This resource will give our students the opportunity to have their clothes washed during the school day so that they can return home in clean clothing.
