Necessity in Nonfiction
Funded Nov 19, 2019This project has greatly enhanced my children's awareness, curiosity, and importance of listening to, reading, and actually comprehending nonfictional text. Your donations have not only assisted me in enhancing the reading curriculum, but has also helped my children become independent readers. These on-level, kid friendly Scholastic magazines are the perfect enhancement to my teaching.
My children are so excited each week when it is time to pull out the Let's Find Out Scholastic magazine. The topics that are presented are "theme" related, and are developmentally appropriate for the beginner reader, as my kindergarteners are. They feel extremely independent and successful as they read their magazine, and are thrilled to learn more about topics that they normally would not get the opportunity to explore. I made resource pages that go along with the texts to enhance their skill of being able to find text evidence in resources. This has proven to be an amazing addition to the texts.
Having relevant, nonfictional text in front of kindergarteners is especially important because it teaches them to look for text evidence at an early age, which is a skill needed to further their writing, comprehension, and reading, and also makes them aware that text can be fun and educational all at the same time! Having these resources available to my babies have been such a joy and I hope to continue it next year with my next class.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart!”

Financial Literacy for Five Year Olds!
Funded Sep 14, 2018It is with the upmost thanks that I write this to you. My sweet little kindergarteners have already enjoyed the texts through our math lessons. We have started with the counting to ten books and are moving to reading all the shape books that came with the set. My plan is to move through those and eventually get to the measuring, time, and money texts! I now start my Math lesson each day with one of the texts and it has truly changed the way my math lessons are arranged as well as received by the children. They come to the carpet and sit around me waiting to hear the text I have picked out. When I see smiles, and hear cheering when I start singing our song to come to the carpet for a story, you know it's right!!! I have gotten the opportunity to have engaging math lessons that relate to the text as well as the standards that I am teaching. Your generous donations have truly changed my teaching day and I, along with my children, are forever grateful. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

This classroom project was brought to life by Charles Schwab Foundation and 7 other donors.Little Listeners
Funded May 30, 2018I would like to thank everyone who helped provide my sweet kindergarten babies with brand new headphones to use during their time on the IPADS during learning stations. The headphones have prove to be the best investment for our classroom, saving me time, and giving my children the independence to successfully turn the volume up/down on the headphones, as well as adjust them to securely fit their heads all by themselves!! These headphones are comfortable for them to use, and even have sharing capabilities for partner work on an IPAD!
I am most thankful for your caring and giving hearts, and for your trust in me to implement what I promised to do through this Donors Choose project.
I hope to make each of you proud, and please know that I am forever grateful for your selfless donation to our sweet little classroom. Love to all!”

Comfy and Cozy While Reading
Funded Apr 4, 2017What an exciting afternoon it was to receive and actually open the comfortable seating we received from YOUR sweet donations! The children immediately wanted to sit on the couch and my sweet little girls wanted the pillows to be "just right" on the couch. The ownership they felt was incredible! We set up our reading corner and the children have absolutely loved it and have also found a newfound love for the reading center, which makes this teacher extremely happy! Words from me cannot express the grateful heart I have that you thought enough of my babies to donate to our happy classroom. I am overwhelmed with your kindness and will definitely pay it forward!!! Much love! Carol”
