I teach third grade at an urban school in Indiana. My students are very diverse and most of them are on free or reduced price lunch and receive universal breakfast at school. The majority of my class is African American or Hispanic. Most of my class is reading below grade level and cannot read the reading series textbooks adopted by my school district. My school district has provided some additional reading materials, but not enough to meet the needs of my lowest readers.
