  • LEGO Robotics!

    Funded Nov 29, 2023

Thank you so very much for completing funding for my project. It's been a long wait but well worth it. This will benefit many students for years to come. The robots are set to arrive January 8, 2024 to begin a year of new excitement for our second grade students. We can't wait!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Goodwin

  • Let's Get Back to School!

    Funded Sep 14, 2020

We were in virtual mode during the pandemic. I needed to purchase a new computer in order to be able to teach virtually from home. That went well from March 2020 to March 2021, when we then returned to a hybrid method of instruction: half the class had instruction in-person in the morning, and the other half stayed virtual and had instruction in the afternoon.

Now I needed a way to teach virtually from school. This new computer enabled me to accomplish this. It was the same computer I had ordered for at home virtual instruction the previous year, so it was easy for me to transition to virtual from the classroom.

I am so thankful for this computer in my classroom...we transitioned to virtual from home to virtual from school with no hiccups. We finished out the year and were ready for whatever life threw at us the following school year!”

  • Listening Center Books on CD

    Funded Jan 17, 2013

I would like to thank each one of you for your contribution to our classroom listening center. We received several book sets with Cd's--ones that are appropriate for second grade and tie into the stories in our current reading series. This format enables students to listen to stories while following along in the books. It allows the able-reading students to listen to another voice, other than their own, relay the story...with the experience of a seasoned, dramatic reader. It also enables the reading-learners to relax and hear a story without the anxiety of having to decode the text to enjoy a story.

Thanks for making a difference in the lives of 24 second graders!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Goodwin

  • Reading Listening Center Needs CD Player

    Funded Sep 26, 2012

I wanted to thank you all again for supporting my classroom and my students.

It's been really frustrating trying to use a dying cd player with 24 eager bodies waiting patiently (well, not really that patiently!!). But now that we have our new one, all reading and music playing functions smoothly. We now have another active center to use at reading time, and now that winter performances have begun, we have a reliable player on which to practice our songs and dances.

And we have been sharing with our partner class...so now 48 students have been touched by your donation.

Thanks again for assisting the second graders in my classroom...not only for this school year, but for the years to come.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Goodwin

  • Classroom CD Player/Listening Center

    Funded Dec 9, 2011

Thank you once again for your contribution to our classroom listening station.

This is the first step for getting our listening center going. We received the station holder, the ear phones, and the bag/clip holders for our cd's and books. The kids can't wait to use it!

The rest of the station is listed on the Donorschoose website. There we hope to get the new player, the cd's, and the books.

We could have never gotten this far without you. This has been an amazing experience!

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Goodwin

  • Dictionaries

    Funded Dec 24, 2011

I just wanted to send one last thank you for your donations toward the purchase of dictionaries for my classroom. My students use these books every week...sometimes daily...with our vocabulary. They look up definitions, parts of speech, spelling, and synonyms. These books also contain sample sentences so students can see the words used in context.

We also use the dictionaries with our writing program. The books are set up so that if students don't know how to spell a word, they are still successful in finding it to use in their essays.

My class also has many students whose first language is not English. The dictionaries are a resource for them to support their learning of English.

Thanks, again. In these tight-budget times...you were there with a helping hand.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Goodwin

I teach at a gifted/high ability magnet in CA. We enjoy a voluntarily multicultural/diverse population, which enhances our second grade curriculum. Sharing our various cultural backgrounds ties in with our state standards of heritage and how different people can make a difference. We have a fantastic parent organization that tries its best to raise monies to pay for Art, Music, and P.E. teachers to enrich their children's education.
