Cracking the Code
Funded Feb 22, 2023Thank you so much for seeing the importance in this project and helping to bring it to life! As New York City Department of Education moves towards more of a Science of Reading approach, we're proud to know that we've already started doing the work.
With these decodable readers, we are able to support our earliest readers as they start to develop concepts of print and letter-sound correspondence. With these books, our students will feel empowered that they can "read" as they start to learn what reading looks like!
These books were enough to fill up yet another classroom library in one of our early childhood classrooms. We couldn't be more thankful for your part in doing that!”
With gratitude,
Ms. DeGrazia
Cracking the Code
Funded Oct 31, 2022Thank you so much for bringing this project to life! Our school is making some fantastic shifts in regards to following the science of reading and teaching kids to read using a phonics-based approach. However, with shifts comes the need for the materials to support it.
With your support, we were able to put more books in kids hands! We were able to build our classroom libraries to support students who still need help learning to read. With these books, we were able to fill students' book baggies so that they could bridge their work between home and school.
Our students have shown tremendous growth already! A big reason for this is that we were able to provide them with the right resources. Thank you for making it happen!”
With gratitude,
Ms. DeGrazia
Sensory Overload
Funded Oct 31, 2022Thank you so much for believing in this project and helping it come to life!
Our students are already benefitting greatly from having some division to help avoid distractions in the classroom. With this divider, our students are better able to focus and work in groups. They are less distracted by extraneous stimuli. They are more engaged in the learning. Because of it's light weight and it's size, we are easily able to pull this out when we need it and put it away when we're done with it. We're able to use it flexibly rather than all the time.
This couldn't have happened without you. We appreciate all your support!”
With gratitude,
Ms. DeGrazia
Kindergarten’s First Steps to Read
Funded May 3, 2022Thank you so much for believing in this project! So much of what we hear lately is about the science and, even in the way we learn reading, there is scientific based research behind it!
It makes it that much easier to make the transition to using scientifically grounded instructional strategies when we have the materials to support it. With these books we've been able to create decodable classroom libraries that our youngest learners will use day in and day out as they apply their phonics learning and put it to action. We've already received the books, stamped them, labeled them, and organized them so that in a couple weeks we can get them into classrooms and put to use!
We cannot thank you enough for the support you've given. Teaching takes a village and with the support of kind, generous people like you it makes it that much easier."”

Funded Nov 30, 2021Thank you so much for your generosity and support with this project. As we make shifts in the way we teach reading, it is necessary that we have the right materials to match.
With these sets of books, we can continue to build our library of decodable readers that follow a purposeful and sequential system. As our youngest readers begin to independently read, they will be supported with books that challenge them at their "just right" reading level.
We already stamped, labeled, and organized these books! They've already been added to our libraries! A few of our observant students noticed the new additions already and are excited to keep practicing their reading so they can use these new materials.”

Funded Nov 5, 2021Thank you so much for your support with this project! As you can see from the photos, the rug is the perfect addition for our classroom. In addition to the colors bringing a tranquil and peaceful mood, it's already become a meeting area for the class.
At this rug, we're able to learn together from assigned and visually supportive rug spots. We're able to meet as a community to have discussions, share with each other, and build relationships.
We cannot thank you enough for supporting our learners and building an environment of peace and tranquility. The kids were over the moon when they saw the carpet!”

What Fun Is Reading Without Understanding?
Funded Nov 8, 2021Thank you so much for your generosity and belief in this project! We are anxiously awaiting for our materials to arrive so we can get to work.
Our speech therapist at the school as well as our out of classroom special education and intervention teachers are going to collaboratively use this resource. By building cohesion between education providers, we'll be able to better support our students who are most in need. They'll get an opportunity to practice this during their related services as well as during academic instruction.
Our students now have access to a research-based classroom tool that will support their comprehension needs. Learners who are able to decode but struggle to make meaning of a story or synthesize its parts will have an instructional tool to focus their learning.
We cannot wait to get started!”
