Empowering Students with Flexible Seating

Thank you so much for your generous support of "Empowering Students with Flexible Seating." It is difficult to express just how meaningful this project was for my students.

First, my students were invested and excited about the project before we even got all of our furniture. Things arrived over the course of a few weeks. Students were volunteering to transport the boxes to our storage location just so they would get a preview of what new seating had arrived.

Once everything was delivered, over a dozen students volunteered to come into the classroom after school and during lunch to put things together.

On the Monday morning when things were finally ready, students started popping in as soon as they arrived to see what the finished product looked like. Students got to choose their own seats and were incredibly responsible about selecting seats where they could work well.

Since we transitioned to flexible seating thanks to your support, students have been measurably more engaged in group assignments. They are excited to move around and collaborate with each other. The average completion of group assignments has improved by over 10% across all of my classes! Attendance has also improved in each class. Students see the flexible seating as unique and special, and it makes them excited to be part of something different.

Students are excited about coming to English class and working with peers in a way beyond what I imagined when I dreamt this project. I am confident that thanks to your support, my students will graduate with strong 21st century skills.
