My students have a classroom economy system that teaches them not only about their behavior, but also about wants and demands. Each students earns money and spends it however they please. We learn about banking terms and what makes an economy function.
Through this economy system, they can purchase high ticketed items by working hard. The Nintendo Switch is a high ticketed priced item that my students would love. They love raising the money to pick a friend to play these games with. The students also learn about partnerships by splitting the cost and working together to earn this high priced item.
Lastly, the students make their own market to earn money. This gaming system helps them understand why certain items are priced the way they are and how to budget to get everything they want. Please help me bring this into my classroom to encourage them to reach higher.
