Let's Hit the Low Notes with Violas and Cellos
Funded Aug 4, 2015Thank you all SO much for your kindness and generosity in donating money for my students to play on violas and cellos this year! Through your donation, I have been able to establish my school's first string orchestra where my students meet everyday to rehearse on these fantastic new instruments. They have grown so much since the beginning of the year, and are currently preparing for auditions and opportunities to perform not only in school but in our community and in the city!
My students were so excited to see all the shipments of violas and cellos and open their instrument for the first time. The first day my students were able to take the instruments home was so thrilling for them as they were filled with pride carrying their instruments out of school doors.
As I continue to grow the orchestra, know that your donation has provided musical instruments to my students for many generations to come, and I am so grateful again for your belief and support for music education in children's lives!”

Taking a Stand for Music Stands!
Funded Dec 15, 2014Thank you so much for your kind donation for our project! Every day, students are using the music stands as part of our rehearsals in preparation for our Carnegie Hall performance! They are so excited to be rehearsing as a professional ensemble with professional materials.
The project truly boosts my teaching as I am able to have specific do-nows on the stands for each student and differentiated charts to help each student with what they individually need in order to improve their playing! The students are grateful to be able to learn with these new tools as we continue to develop professionalism as musicians in our daily learning!”

Funded Oct 15, 2014My students are some excited to embark on their journeys as musicians with their shoulder rests to help them have proper posture while playing the violin! They are ecstatic to know that people all over the world have helped them learn the violin with proper materials in the classroom.
Every time my students take out the violin, the shoulder rest is in each case so that they can attach it immediately to the violin and be ready to learn! Shoulder rests are especially essential in the beginning stages of learning the violin.
My teaching is truly boosted by having all the materials necessary for students to develop good habits from the start. My students also understand how important it is to treat all materials with care, and these shoulder rests will go a long way for many years to come!
Thank you again for your kind donation and I hope you will be able to hear our beautiful playing one day!”

Funded Apr 22, 2014Thank you all so much for donating to my Strings and Things: Starting a Strings Program to help me kick off my strings program at our school. My students have been so excited that people all over the world helped fund this project so that they can play the violin. Upon first opening the violins, they were mesmerized by the case and everything inside it from the cover to the bow to the velcro flaps that hold the violin in and of course, the violins themselves. They are constantly in disbelief that they are learning to play these instruments, and their sheer joy and excitement in discovering each new string, note, and sound is overwhelmingly amazing!
This year, the entire third grade is learning to play the violin whenever they come to music class. Violin playing is helping my students learn how to read music, and vice versa. Students are exploring the different kinds of sounds the violins can make and using their various motor skills to play the instruments. In addition, students are able to connect each note on paper to a sound with their own fingertips - something incredibly rewarding for me and for my students.
This project is truly a dream come true. Many of my students come from low-income families and do not have access to instruments themselves. I get to be that teacher who introduces instruments to my students for them to create sounds and music, and for that in itself, I am very lucky. Without a doubt, I am the luckiest teacher in the world to have so many people around the world believe in what I do and allow each third grader at my school to hold their own violin and make their own music to express themselves.
I am so thankful for your kindness. Please know that your donation has made an incredible impact on my students' lives.”

Funded Jan 8, 2014I am so excited to share with you that with your help, I have been able to start a Keyboard Club at my school where students get to learn how to play the keyboard! With the help of the headphones and the power strips, each student has a practice partner in Keyboard Club for peer learning and interaction and also for sharing their new journey in learning music together! My students were so excited when the Keyboard Club started and are excited to come to school just for the club, and having these resources really allows me to work individually with students while they are teaching each other! Some students have told me that Keyboard Club is the best thing that has happened to them! It's also one of the best things that has happened to me and our school. Thank you so much again!”
