This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 3 other donors.Headphones for Learning!
Funded Dec 2, 2024Our students are now able to better focus on their own digital assignments and be less distracted by the sounds of other students' laptops. This really helps because students have differentiated lessons and practice to complete.
Students love the sturdy and comfortable headphones. These are just the right size for them. They are no longer having to adjust them constantly.
Lastly, this project has helped me, by enabling me to spend more time providing small group and individual support to students who need it the most.”

Mrs. Espinosa
Building a Reading Life!
Funded Sep 19, 2017Our students were truly excited when they heard that our project had been funded and we would receive our own reading baggies.
Since the reading baggies arrived, our students have had the chance to keep their individually chosen books in one personal and safe and place. Students have been taking books home every single day, giving them the opportunity to get stronger in their reading.
Thanks to your contributions to this project, our students are growing and developing a reading life, in school and at home.”

Our Class Loves Math!
Funded Mar 11, 2016Dear Parents and Supporters of Our Class Loves Math Project,
Through your kind donations our class has acquired materials that have made a great impact on our daily Math learning.
As part of our lessons, we have implemented various fluency games using dice to support Addition and subtraction within 20.
We have been using the mini dry and wipe boards to work out word problems. This practice challenges all students to show their math thinking in writing.
The level of engagement and accountability has greatly increased because all students are required and encouraged to think, talk, and write about math.
Having various erasable and reusable resources has made tools easily accessible and manageable. Students have learned to use hundreds charts, number lines, erasable charts and boards to problem solve and develop their understanding of Math concepts.
Games such as the addition and subtraction machine have become favorites during our "Math Game" time. Students who are ready for the next challenge have been enjoying solving the "Missing Addend" puzzles.
I am confident that our students are ending the year having developed a deeper understanding of concepts as well as taking their growing love for Math to Second Grade!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Espinosa

Funded Oct 28, 2015Thank you for funding this very important Reading project. Our students have greatly benefited from receiving various leveled text sets. These books have supported small group instruction happening in our classroom each and every day. By placing books that are at instructional level; that is, a bit more complex than what students are able to do independently, I have been able to provide guided reading that allows students to practice new skills and strategies required to grow stronger in reading.
Students learn reading by reading. Having a great variety of books available is crucial in supporting this work. Students in our classroom read in small groups, independently and with a partner on a daily basis. Your kind donations are helping and will continue to support our students' growth and development in reading.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Espinosa
We Love to Write!
Funded Apr 20, 2015Our students couldn't wait to use the resources you generously donated to our classroom. They have found many ways to use the materials to create books, covers, notes, and letters.
They have become stronger writers and have developed their identities as to what kind of writers they want to be.
Our students are able to pick different types of paper designed for different genres. They are able to create covers for their books, with the scissors and stamps.
Other students have been using the stamps for practicing cvc words, during word study. This practice has made it fun for them to learn more about words and to be able to become more confident in writing.”

Mrs. Espinosa
Keeping Kindergarten Organized!
Funded Nov 21, 2014Our class is so grateful for your contribution to fulfilling our classroom project. The children were extremely happy to receive their seat sacks. They specifically loved that each one of these has it's own name plate.
Having an individual seat sack has made it possible for each student to have their own storage space. Each child has a reading baggie, a "Dina dollar" baggie, writing folder, and a word study folder. Sometimes we use these baggies to temporarily hold items such as borrowed books from the library, and ongoing projects. When using special math tools and materials, baggies are a convenient way to hold them temporarily.
Storing items in the seat sacks has allowed for easy access of resources and less time lost in the day retrieving and putting away items. In addition, this storage space has allowed more workspace to be available at each table; as these tables are small. Managing day to day materials for instruction has become a more smooth process. The use of the seat sacks has also allowed students to become more independent and take charge of their own learning!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Espinosa
