Students in public schools generally do not get to own their own books, especially in English classes. In my school, it is more a matter of affordability, for both the parent(s) and the district. I think there is no better way to turn a student around, to fully engage that student than by giving them their own copy of a book that is to be studied in class. Please donate and help my students feel the need to read, literally, and change lives by giving them their first book for their first library. The Old Man and the Sea is our first selection for the 2018-2019 school year and it is with this wonderful novella that I hope to begin the journey of inspiration.
