One of the more important parts of the high school theatre experience is building your sets. My students and I get together each Saturday--I bring the coffee and donuts, they bring the hard work and determination--and we work on building the set for our play. When I took over the program we had very few usable tools for the students and everything we used needed to be borrowed. With this miter saw and stand, my drama students will learn not simply how to properly cut a wood board, but also how to design, plan, and execute a building project. These are skills that will stay with them for their entire lives. Our school has no wood or metal shop class that could either assist in our work or teach the students these skills. Our drama program does, and we are in serious need of new tools.
