  • Let Our Children Sculpt!

    Funded Jan 25, 2025

Thanks to your generous support, my Donors Choose project to provide Sculpture class students with clay and paint has been fully funded. With these materials, students will create clay sculptures with a focus on love: love they have for someone or something, how they show love, how they receive love, and more.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Alex

  • The Things We Forget: Classroom Supplies We Take for Granted

    Funded Jan 1, 2025

Thank you so much for funding my latest Donor's Choose project. As an art teacher, all of my classes are one semester long meaning in a few weeks I will say goodbye to my current students and welcome 4 new classes of art students. With this change comes the need for a refresh of supplies and materials. Your donations will help ensure my 2nd semester students have access to the materials they need for a well-functioning art classroom. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Alex

  • Let Our Children Paint!

    Funded Dec 3, 2024

Thanks to your generous support, my project "Let Our Children Paint!" was fully funded. Students will have access to the materials they need to engage in a full academic quarter of painting instruction. For some students this will be their first time painting in years or even the first time ever. Learning how to paint can open doors to self-expression, feelings of accomplishment, and even opportunities and passion to explore the arts in the future. Thank you!”

  • Let Our Children Paint!

    Funded May 17, 2024

Thanks to your support of my "Let Our Children Paint!" Donor's Choose project, we were able to provide all the materials students need to engage in a full quarter of painting instruction.

Students painted basic color wheels, creative color wheels, learned to paint from observation, painted some of their favorite foods, and made personal voice posters representing their message on a topic of personal importance to them.

Students were thrilled to have these paints and other materials and love the painting unit. Students get to express themselves and learn how to work with a media that is engaging, fun, and challenging.

I hope you will continue my Donor's Choose projects, ensuring students in public education receive a well rounded arts education.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Alex

  • Words of Wisdom

    Funded May 7, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous support of my art classes and students. Because of your donations, my students had access to high quality art materials to complete their first major project in my Art Survey class. Specifically, students had a wide variety of colorful cardstock papers to create their Words of Wisdom artworks.

Words of Wisdom are short, creative, supportive messages students create as reminders for themselves. Once complete, students place their Words of Wisdom on the trifold mirrors at the front of my classroom. This way, everyday, as students enter their art classroom, they can see themselves reflected in the mirrors surrounded by these positive words of advice, encouragement, and support.

Coming up, students are creating collages and soon will begin the paint. With your continued support, my students will have access to the high quality materials they need to make artwork they can be proud of. Please look forward to future Donor's Choose projects to support my classes and students. Thank you!”

  • Let Our Children Paint!

    Funded Jan 20, 2024

Thanks to your generous donations, all my students in Art Survey classes had access to the supplies and materials they needed to complete an entire academic quarter of painting instruction. Students learned how to paint a basic 18-segment colorwheel (a first time experience for many students!), learn how to paint real-life subject matter, create their own original creative colorwheel designs, and more.

Students finished their quarter of painting by creating personal voice posters: paintings that visually communicate their point of view or specific message on a topic of personal importance to them. These paintings are now on display in our school for all to see.

Without your support, I would not be able to afford the paints, brushes, and painting paper needed to teach students how to paint starting from zero to ending with a class of knowledgeable and confident painters. Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Alex

  • Snacks for School!

    Funded Dec 31, 2023

Thanks to your generous support, my classroom recently received boxes full of healthy, diet-restriction conscious snacks. These snacks will help students sustain their energy and focus as we push through the cold winter months to start the new year.

As a teacher working in a highly diverse school where students have a range of dietary restrictions due to allergies and cultural and religious restrictions, these snacks range from gelatin-free, sugar-free, gluten-free and otherwise accommodating to students various needs.

Simple snacks like these ensure we are providing for our students as people first, helping to make sure they are ready to learn. Thank you.”

    Mr. Alex

  • Let Our Children Paint!

    Funded Jun 12, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous support of this project and your continued support of my art classroom. For this Donor's Choose Project, your donations helped purchase paints, brushes, and other materials needed so that all my art classes could paint. Thanks to you, I've been able to keep my promise of providing a well-rounded, quality art education to all my students at no cost to them or their families.

In some classes, these materials will be used for an entire quarter of painting, from starting with a basic color wheel to completing much more complex paintings designed by students. In Sculpture classes, these painting materials allowed students to paint their final clay sculptures, giving them a level of finish and detail they couldn't otherwise achieve.

We will continue to use these paints and materials all year long. Please take a look at the gallery to see just a small handful of artworks made possible by your support.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Alex

  • Sketchbooks For Every Student: Let Our Children Draw!

    Funded Jul 12, 2023

Thanks to your generous donations, I have been able to provide every single one of my students with a sketchbook, free of charge to them or their families. Students reacted with surprise and delight when I announced they were all receiving a sketchbook for free. It is important to me that there are no financial barriers to students being able to take my art classes and have the materials and supplies they need to be successful in my classes. Many of my more artistically-inclined students were especially grateful to receive a brand new sketchbook and have already filled the pages with sketches for our class and for their own doodling interests.

We use these sketchbooks weekly, most often for warm-up drawings and sketching for major projects. Without these sketchbooks, art class would feel less personal and less like a true studio art experience. Thank you for supporting my classroom and my students' art education!”

    Mr. Alex

  • Color Pencils for Art Class

    Funded Apr 4, 2023

Thanks to your funding of this project, every table group now has access to a wide variety of rich, vibrant color pencils for all their drawing needs. Here are just a few examples of how students have and will continue to use the color pencils:

    - for creating abstract art that represents their current feelings, mood, and thoughts, a lesson with an SEL focus

    - for creating sketches and testing colors for their various painting projects

    - for practice drawings focused on color relationships and cohesive color palettes.

Thank you for your continued support of art education as a vital component of a well-rounded public education.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Alex
