Snug on a Rug!
Funded Aug 29, 2013First off, we want to thank everybody from the bottom of our hearts. This rug is truly a fantastic addition to our classroom. The second I put it in our room, my students were so excited to sit on the rug for carpet time. Gone are the days of explaining that it was OK if they were not sitting on the rug and of having to diffuse nit picky situations ("She's sitting in my spot!"). The kids love this rug, as do I.
We use this rug for everything. We hold our morning meeting on the rug, our math talks, math centers, language arts centers and reading time. We act out stories on the rug, practice adding and sing our morning songs. Each one of us has our own square (teacher included!) - it could not be any better!
With our own squares now, time is no longer lost deciding who sits where and why. I can now focus on the lesson at hand and my students no longer lose their focus on these little problems.
Again, thank you so much for everything you do - our classrooms could not survive without your help and support!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Williams

Funded Feb 11, 2013It is with incredible gratitude that I write you this letter to not only thank you for your outstanding donations, but also to shed some light on just how these fantastic books have helped our room.
Spanish children's books are difficult to find in education stores, book stores and and other store, and when you do find them they are so outrageously priced that as a teacher, I often second guess if I really need that book or if I should just write my own. Having these books available now in my classroom has made reading classic children's stories accessible to me as an educator and to my voracious elementary school readers.
Because these stories are considered children's book classics, many of my students had read them before in English. This made the story transferable from one language to another, so my students can now focus on reading the words and not having to figure out what is happening in a story they have never read. Consequently, this has made it so much easier for my students to take the time with these books and simply work on reading, decoding, and figuring out how to blend - the stress of deciphering a story for the first time is gone!
Thank you so much from the bottom of all of our hearts!”

Listen to the Story We're About to Tell...
Funded Sep 22, 2012I want to take this opportunity to thank you for your generous donations to purchase our listening center. It is amazing how sometimes something so small and simple can really impact so many kids!
My students are very excited about using the listening center and jump at the opportunity whenever it arises. Not only that, they have, since receiving and using the listening center, been incredibly turned on to reading and frequently pick up a book when they finish early! They don't just look at the pictures anymore, they read for content. They read for the story. They read to learn. They just read. This is a truly incredible transformation.
They have transferred these skills and this newfound love of reading to writing as well. They often write their own stories and we frequently have student written story time. They are writing stories. They are telling stories. They are incredible.
What an amazing opportunity these children have been given, and we have you to thank for that.
Thank you from all of us!”

Mrs. Williams
