Eat. Sleep. Dream. Graphic Novels.
Funded Nov 28, 2023Thank you so much for Donating. The students love to read graphic novels. And to say the least, they can't stay in the library bins. I love to see the students talking about the texts and passing the texts to other students to read.
My biggest hope is that these text allow the students to pick up other books that are similar to the stories that they are reading. A love of reading facilitates the students comprehension and understanding of different genres of text as well as in their own school community. We thank you so much.”

Funded May 8, 2019The technology you have gifted the class has helped tremendously. Donors Choose has helped me to gain so much technology. I had no where to store it. The technology cart helped to make it easier to organize, store and charge at night.
The most exciting thing about the classroom is having the technology available. They are learning new programs and developing better understanding of the importance of technology.
I have several students in my classroom that I call my technology police. They make sure that the technology is away, well taken care of and secure.
All in all, we are extremely happy with the donation and love that the classroom is becoming a technology hub.”

Funded Nov 27, 2018Thank you for allowing my students to have more access to technology in the classroom. Having the technology in the classroom allows me to break my students up into groups. I am able to teach half the class now, while the other half of the class is on the technology with lessons to help their learning in reading and math. The technology also helps the students with research for their writing projects or just finding the answer to questions that they have. The technology also means that more students can use the computers at one time instead of having to wait h til someone else is finished.
The computers are user friendly. So the kids know how to sign on with easy. They can navigate by themselves. It gives them a sense of independence that they need to become career and college ready focused.
One student who is using this technology the most is my ELL student. He is new to the country and did not have any English knowledge. Now he can use the computer to aid in his u Understanding of certain concepts. Also when he is unsure of something, he can watch a video to help him understand.”

Funded Aug 23, 2018Thank you for your donation to our classroom. The table, which your donation funded, has helped collaboration in the classroom. Students in my class now have an area where they can work together without having to worry about materials falling through the cracks or materials being too far away from them to reach.
When my students first received the table in the classroom and saw the custodians putting the table together, their eyes lit up. They couldn't believe that this table was coming into their classroom and that it was there for them to use. The students immediately went over to the table when it was finished and touched it and marveled at how the table looked in their classroom. . Then instantaneously, the students were asking if they could sit at the table so they may work with their classmates. One shining moment in using the table for collaboration was when my students were able to use the table to come up with ideas for their narrative writing. Brainstorming was so much easier when the students were able to sit together, look face to face with each other and be close enough to talk to one another without having to stretch over a desk.
While this is only one area in my classroom, where collaboration works so well, I am striving to move towards having more areas in my classroom like these. I will be working on making my classroom completely collaborative, where students will be able to sit at a table like the one you donated and work together.”

Click, Clack, Chromebook!
Funded Dec 2, 2017Thank you for donating to my project. The technology has been a great addition to the classroom. With this technology, I am now allowed to have more students access Internet based programs, which allow them to be successful. The technology also helps to facilitate with groups and rotation. Now with enough computers to service an entire group, I no longer have fighting or a need to share a laptop. Lastly, the computers serve as a reward and an incentive to complete their work in a timely matter. Once again, I thank you for your donations. Being in a low income school is not easy. But you have now made my job a little easier.”

Wobble While We Work
Funded Aug 24, 2017Thank you so much for donating to my classroom. Your donation has helped me and the students in various ways. The wobble stools were instantly a big hit in the classroom. These wobble stools have allowed the students to have movement in their seats without having to actually get out of the seats. When my students first saw the seat, the joy and excitement was so high. Immediately, all of the students wanted to use the seats. I set up a small area in the classroom where the students would be able to use the seats when they are working independently. At first, all of the students wanted to use the seats, but then it narrowed down to those students who really needed to have that motion. Now the students who need it the most have the chance to get the movement needs when necessary. Now a classroom, that use to be filled with antsy students has become a classroom of busy working students. Thank you so much.”

We Need More Books!
Funded Jul 1, 2017Thank you so much for providing these books for my students. The smile that lit up their face when they knew they would be able to read them was incredible. A love of reading has definitely been fostered in my classroom. I can hardly keep the books in my library. They are already looking to see what new books are coming out in the series that they love, just so I can get more for them.
Reading has no longer been a laboring process. Instead, it is fun and exciting. They are interested in getting to know the characters in the book. As well as beginning to understand how characters interact with one another and their surroundings. They are able to practice reading skills in their homework with the books that you have provided for them.
My boys especially have become book worms. I have to continuously tell them to put the books away because they would rather read then listen to the classroom lessons at times. They do quickly heed to the directions. But as soon as the lesson is over and the work is completed, the students are back in their books. Getting boys to read is the hardest. But you have definitely helped me overcome that obstacle. Thank you so much for your generosity.”

Ms. Jackson
