It's So Hard to Learn on an Empty Stomach
Funded Jan 28, 2022Students have really enjoyed the snacks that you helped to provide for them. They come in to my class whenever they're hungry, whether they didn't have breakfast, didn't like the school lunch or just need a little pick me up because their lunch was early or late in the day. This project has allowed me to reach not only my own French students but so many other students throughout the school. Once word got out that I wasn't turning anyone away (which I've been able to do thanks to your generosity) I've met students from all over the school. The best part is that it's not junk food that I'm providing so the kids are getting a little extra sustenance throughout their school day, which they may not have had otherwise.
This project has really meant so much to the students and to me, to be able to provide it for them. I truly thank you from the bottom of my heart!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Donahue

Funded Jan 29, 2022The kids have been so excited to use the essential supplies that I was able to get thanks to you! I sent some pictures from Mardi Gras when we made masks and decorated them. It was so impactful for them to be able to not just learn about Mardi Gras but actually create something relevant and meaningful that they could wear and keep! The kids were happy to show off their masterpieces and we created a beautiful display for the whole school to enjoy.
We couldn't do it with out special donors like you.”

Hey Miss, They Look Like Me!
Funded Dec 10, 2021I'm so touched by your generosity towards my students! I can't wait to see their reaction when they see these books displayed in the classroom for them to access during free reading time. Your donation will allow them to access the target language while seeing characters that they can relate to in the stories. Merci beaucoup!”

Funded Jun 4, 2021Students have been able to read the first copy of their magazine subscription just this past week. Many of my students have very minimal language ability in French, even my eighth graders given the impact of covid last year keeping us remote for most of the year with a reduced schedule. They were so excited by how much they were able to understand in the target language! They were also interested by the fact that they were actual magazines about topics that interested them, not just standard textbooks like they're so used to having in most of their classes.
Thank you so much for making this opportunity possible for them. They're looking forward to next months copy coming soon!”

It's Hard to Learn on an Empty Stomach!
Funded Jun 1, 2021Students have enjoyed the snacks that you helped purchase through Donors Choose so much! I was able to reach even more kids than I had hoped because word spread quickly that I had healthy snacks, all they needed to do was stop by my classroom. I even had some of the more fortunate students ask me where the snacks were purchased so they "could have their mom get them some" because they were healthy AND they liked them! The project was so successful that kids are already missing the snacks and I plan to set up another project soon to keep the supply coming. We all thoroughly appreciate your generosity!”

A Story for the Ages!
Funded Sep 24, 2021My students and I are so grateful for your donations! We can’t wait to begin using the felt board and storytelling activity kits to help us learn speaking and listening in French in a much more effective way. Without your thoughtfulness this never would’ve been possible, we truly appreciate it.”

Funded Jan 22, 2020Thank you so much for your generous donation! My students have been able to use the headphones regularly for listening and speaking activities while the school was still open. We were granted a Chromecart to share with two other foreign language teachers and we all shared the headphones as well, so over 500 students benefitted from your generosity. In addition to our regular curriculum we introduced Duolingo in the classroom, a foreign language learning app that focuses on speaking, listening, reading and writing - all four skills of foreign language learning! Students were able to practice pronunciation without feeling self-conscious that others were listening and they were also able to do this without any interference from others talking near them. Their pronunciation improved greatly and with this, their enthusiasm for French grew. We couldn't have done it without you!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
