Adams Street Basketball: Relentless Pursuit
Funded Dec 30, 2023On behalf of our entire basketball program, I want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of jerseys and equipment. Your support has not only enriched our program but also deeply touched the lives of our young athletes.
The impact of your donation cannot be overstated. Prior to receiving your support, our program faced significant challenges due to limited resources. Many of our talented players practiced in worn-out gear, and the scarcity of equipment often hindered their ability to train effectively. Your contribution has dramatically changed this scenario. The new practice jerseys have instilled a renewed sense of pride and unity among our team members, while the additional equipment has allowed us to implement a more comprehensive training regimen.
Your generosity has also had a profound effect beyond the basketball court. It has taught our students a valuable lesson about community and the importance of giving back. Witnessing firsthand the impact of your kindness, our players are more motivated than ever to excel, not only as athletes but also as individuals. They are learning the significance of teamwork, hard work, and perseverance, lessons that will serve them well beyond their high school years.
Furthermore, your support has sparked a wave of enthusiasm and support within our school and the broader community. It has shown our students that there are organizations and individuals like Donors Choose who believe in their potential and are willing to invest in their future. This realization has been incredibly empowering for them.
As we move forward, we are excited about the prospects for our basketball program. With the resources you have provided, we are confident that we can continue to build a nurturing and competitive environment for our athletes. We are eager to make the most of this opportunity and look forward to keeping you updated on our progress.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Your kindness and generosity have made a significant difference in the lives of our young athletes and the entire Adams Street community. We are deeply grateful for your support and hope to make you proud of the impact your donation has made.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Shea
Adams Street Basketball: Building Our Foundation
Funded Sep 29, 2022Thank you so much for the donations you have made to our basketball program. Your generosity has helped serve amazing young men and women that truly deserve it.
Our student-athletes were so enthused when they saw the new equipment and realized that they were able to get that through the generosity of others.
The student-athletes in our basketball program work extremely hard each and every day: Daily study halls, daily practices or games, as well as community service efforts where they serve as big brother/sisters at Basketball Clinics.
We look forward to giving back to others as you have given back to us.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Shea

Funded Feb 20, 2019This season, our school's basketball program continued to build on the academic and basketball successes that we have enjoyed over the last two seasons. Our final roster included more than twenty student-athletes, some of whom had never played organized basketball before joining our team. After returning very few student-athletes with playing experience, we were unsure of the type of success that we could have this season. . I tell any student who wishes to try out every year, that it is NOT EASY to be a part of this program. The coaching staff is incredibly demanding of our student-athletes in the classroom, on the basketball court and in the school community as well.
The players were ecstatic when their equipment began to arrive at the beginning of the season. Having enough basketballs for each player was a huge advantage during practice. We were able to use the pinnies we received during our practice sessions as well. The equipment bag helped us safely and efficiently move our equipment off campus when needed.
As we now prepare for the upcoming season, we will continue to use the gifts bestowed upon us. Most importantly, they will do so with the knowledge that a group of people, some familiar and some total strangers, took an interest in them and invested in their success. Your generosity will continue to inspire us. We are hopeful that in the future, you will continue to see worth in donating to our basketball program and rest assured that we will put the donations to the best possible uses. Thanks again, for recognizing what interscholastic sports can do for the young people in our school.”
With gratitude,
Mr. Shea

We EXPECT more out of them than they accept out of themselves. But it is BECAUSE they bought into the vision and the culture for our program, that our seniors have been a part of the best three year stretch in school history.
The players were ecstatic when their equipment began to arrive at the beginning of the season. They were able to practice with enough basketballs that each player got the touches he needed to grow as player from one training session to the next. We were able to do drills with multiple basketballs as well as use the remaining basketballs to individual skill work during said drills.
As we now prepare for the playoffs our players will still be using the equipment purchased through your help. Most importantly, they will do so with the knowledge that a group of people, some familiar and some total strangers, took an interest in them and invested in their success. Your generosity will continue to inspire us. Funded Dec 31, 2016Our school's basketball program grew by leaps and bounds this year. Our final roster included more than twenty student-athletes, some of whom had never played organized basketball before joining our team. After returning over 10 student-athletes from our previous season, we had much higher expectations for our performances on the court this season. As a result, we had the best season in school history this past season. This past season, our team won a division championship for the first time in school history, won 20 games for the first time in school history and have been ranked as high as #3 in the city and #10 in the state of New York. The players level of commitment to and pride in our program was unprecedented at this school. None of these things would have been possible without your generous donation.
The players were ecstatic when their equipment began to arrive in the middle of the season. We were able to use our fitness equipment during our practices in order to build and maintain our strength during our long, grueling season.
As we now prepare and set goals for next season, our players will still be using the equipment purchased through your help. Most importantly, they will do so with the knowledge that a group of people, some familiar and some total strangers, took an interest in them and invested in their success. Your generosity will continue to inspire us. Thanks again, for recognizing what interscholastic sports can do for the young people in our school.”
