Fourth Grade Service Stars Reading with Firsties
Funded May 13, 2025Thank you so much for funding our project! I can't wait for our students to get these books and work together on our service stars project! This will benefit our 1st graders, 4th graders, and their families too. They will be able to have these books to read at home for years to come.”

Funded Oct 31, 2024Our students have really worked hard on our Fall reading challenge. We have had many students win the monthly incentive prizes from our Donors Choose project, along with reading rewards like using our fun reading tent and getting books from the Thunder book bus. We have also had students win prizes in the district challenge and their motivation is contagious! It has been a fun first semester and we plan to keep this momentum going into the Spring and Summer reading challenges too. Thank you for helping us promote a love for reading in our students!”

Reading Rocks
Funded Aug 12, 2024Our project has been a huge success. We have had a significant increase in reading for pleasure and students have enjoyed getting to have extra time in the library to work on some of the building materials that were purchased with this grant. We appreciate your support of our kids and helping us promote reading and learning. This has been a great experience and we will continue to offer fun projects and activities to promote reading and reinforce learning and reading for pleasure in our students.”

Our Library Community
Funded Jan 5, 2024All of the supplies and materials from our Donors Choose have helped us have a fun place to meet in the library with many bright and exciting new book displays and signs. It has been fun to watch our students learn and grow together. Their projects and lessons were made better by materials we received with this grant and it helped us update and brighten our library space. The kids have enjoyed thier library classes and are excited to learn to read. We appreciate your support of our library community!”

Funded Sep 20, 2023Our students have loved the Hispanic Heritage tubs and use the books often. It has been a great way to feature these books and draw attention to our Spanish section of the library. We also have many new students this year that don't speak any English and this has been a good bridge for them to have more books available as they learn the language. The biographies have been very popular with the girls and they are reading and learning about strong, successful Hispanic women. We appreciate your support of language and literacy for our students!”

This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose Community and 3 other donors.Mobile Makerspace
Funded Aug 16, 2023Our students have really been excited about our Mobile Makerspace cart! They are able to come to the library during allotted times when there are no classes scheduled for library times and choose any creative project they want to work on with others. This has given them the opportunity to work together and also build their confidence in their own creativity and critical thinking skills.
The mobile cart has worked well in our limited space and when tables are available students can work on them or choose an open area on the floor. It has also really peaked the interest of other students who may come in to check out books and see a group working on a makerspace activity. This has inspired other students to want to come in during makerspace times as well.
We appreciate your support in making this possible for our students and thank you for your kindness!

Funded Aug 2, 2023Thank you for your generous support of our school library! Our students have loved getting to learn about ocean animals and do fun lessons that included activities for them to take home with them.
It has been a great unit that has covered Axolotls, sharks, and fish so far. We will have whales and dolphins soon along with octopus and sea horses.
Our 3rd and 4th graders made shark tooth necklaces after reading "Shark Lady" the biography of Eugenie Clark. Pre-K and Kindergarteners read "Nugget and Fang", then "Field Trip to the Ocean Deep" and made their own ocean sticker stories. 1st and 2nd graders learned about the unique underwater creature called an Axolotl in "Spike the Mixed up Monster" and "Not a Monster", then got pocket pet Axolotls to take home.
These books have been checked out consistently since we got them and have read them with classes. Our other ocean animal books have also circulated more than normal.
Our students have learned about many underwater animals and been highly motivated to read as a result of this ongoing Ocean life unit. It will continue for the remainder of this school year and for many years to come, helping develop strong readers.”

Funded Feb 8, 2022My students loved all of the STEM activities and it gave them such great experiences to prepare them for 3rd grade, when they will have a weekly STEM class! They learned some basic coding applications and were so excited to see some robotics components in the items we received from donors choose. They will be able to apply for an after school robotics team when they get to 4th grade and since I have coached one of these teams the past few years, I've been encouraging them to start preparing for it early (as 2nd and 3rd graders). We appreciate your support!”
