Adding Art To The Three Rs
Funded Aug 28, 2012Thank you so much for your generous donation of art supplies for our classroom. With the cuts to the school budget increasing each year, we've reached the point where the school can't purchase basic art supplies that are essential in every classroom. If students don't bring them from home, the most simple of projects becomes impossible due to lack of supplies.
With your donation, we can move forward with our learning and our supplemental projects without having to juggle the basic supplies. The students appreciate having a ready supply in the classroom that they can use as needed.
It's donors like you who make our schools the successes that they are. You add the "extras" that make school exciting for students.”

Funded Apr 17, 2012Thank you for your donation of a class set of the book A Wrinkle in Time. We have been reading it in class the past few weeks and the students have really enjoyed the opportunity to read a novel from cover to cover together. This book has introduced a new genre, science fantasy, to most of them and has caused them to engage with the story on more than a superficial level. The benefit to reading the book together is that we can discuss it as we go, clarifying any confusing points and making the book accessible to many more ability levels than if they read it individually.
I have already heard several students comment that they really like this story and want to read more books in the series. They also comment at the end of the chapter that they want to keep on reading, even though we have to set it aside until the next day. That's the ultimate success!
The school year is ending soon, and I plan to show them the movie version of the book on the last day of school as a wrap up to the project. Without your generosity, this valuable reading experience would not have been possible.”

Ms. Brubaker
Let's Do Science!
Funded Feb 1, 2012Thanks so much for your generous donation of science display boards and dictionaries to my classroom. The display boards enabled students from two fifth grade classes to conduct science experiments and document their discoveries for a schoolwide science fair. They were able to learn the scientific process and also how to attractively display their results as they worked in a team with one or two other students. These are skills that will serve them well as they progress into middle school and high school.
The dictionaries have been a welcome addition to the classroom as well. Previously we only had beginners dictionaries which did not serve the students well. The words they wanted to look up were not in primary dictionaries. Now, when they ask me about the meaning or spelling of a word, I can tell them to "look it up" and they actually can find the word in the dictionary!
Thanks again for your generosity to my classroom and my students. We sincerely appreciate the interest you have shown in us!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Brubaker
