My students will utilize these materials to create meaningful art inspired by their reading, self-identity, and the love of our community. Students will have the opportunity to showcase their artwork through gallery walks, art nights in the community, through the support of local businesses, and through our "Community in Color" initiative. Our goal is to demonstrate our love of reading through our artwork. The ideas we gather will be turned into visual art that we hope will impact our school campus and community. My students will learn about color theory and use the paints, paint brushes, color pencils and poster board to demonstrate gradient in color, color building exercises; play with shapes and texture by create several mixed media projects. Students will create visuals for both the interior and exterior of our school campus. My students will also begin their student portfolios that will follow them through their academic careers. Many of my students aspire to attend visual and performing arts schools. Through this project, my students will be exposed to a world outside of their own...ultimately, creating well-rounded students that make a huge impact on this world!
