My theme is to create scientists. I feel strongly about the need to “plant the seed” of microscopy. This is why I am asking that you please help us bring 5 microscopes and prepared slides to our class room. My scientists will learn the essentials of microscopy, which are magnification, focus, single lens and compound microscopy. They will also learn the parts of a compound microscope, simple slide making, sub-stage and epi-illumination, and simple use of polarization in microscopy. They will have the opportunity to see a variety of microscopic objects including sand, salt, sugar, hair, feathers, fibers, microscopic plant structures, and living microscopic animals. In addition, they may learn about how lenses are made and polished, and the joys of seeing and doing things by themselves. I will encourage my scientists to move around and share with each other what they are seeing and doing. While moving around, safety is of utmost importance to our classroom environment. That is where the safety goggles come in. We have studied lab safety this year already and my little scientists are taking this very seriously. Thank you for your donation.
