Explosive Science!
Funded Nov 13, 2024I'm incredibly grateful for your support for our Science class! These supplies will allow us to do some incredible and memorable demos and experiments. Combining zinc and hydrochloric acid will create hydrogen. After capturing the hydrogen in a balloon, we light it (from a safe distance) and watch the explosion. Anything involving fire and explosions create an impact. I can't wait to tell my students about the good news! Thank you!”

Funded Oct 31, 2024I wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of board games to my classroom. Your thoughtful contribution will be a fantastic way to build a community within our 6th grade. My PAC Leaders play it during advisory at times, and there is so much laughter as they go through the drawings at the end. The shy kids even come out of their shells while playing. We will now have enough games to play with several 6th grade advisories. I can't wait to see the bonding and hear the laughter when we introduce Telestrations to the 6th grade. Thank you once again for your kindness and support.”

Colorful and Creative Science
Funded Oct 19, 2024I am incredibly grateful for your donation to our classroom. I was just thinking this week that I needed to buy more colored pencils, because our current ones are in pretty sad shape. It was an amazing surprise to open my email this evening to see that some colored pencils and markers had been funded. We need colored pencils for some projects coming up. We are gong to start balancing equations in a few weeks, and we use the neon expo markers to practice that on our black lab tables. The students love writing on the tables with the neon colors, and I love that I can easily see their work and provide feedback quickly. Thank you for providing these much needed supplies!”

Funded May 8, 2024I am incredibly grateful for your donation of Science Fair boards and headers to our science classroom. Every year, my students work on Science Fair projects. We spread it out throughout the year, and host our school's science fair in February. About half of our students qualify for the regional Science Fair at the end of March. Science Fair is a big deal with my advanced students, as they are very competitive. We usually do very well in the Regional Fair, due to all of their hard work throughout the year. One of the requirements of both the school and Regional Science Fair is displaying their information on project boards. Several of our students can't afford the high cost of these boards, so it's a blessing to be able to provide boards to these students. Thank you for gifting us these boards and headers so we can do this. We are very appreciative!”

Funded Sep 7, 2023I'm incredibly grateful for your donation to our classroom. This mix of random materials have helped my students learn in many different ways. The bulbs, seeds and plant food have allowed us to grow vegetables and flowers in a small garden in our room. One of the vegetables we are growing is kale, which we feed to my bearded dragon. The heat bulbs keep my bearded dragon warm in our cool classroom. We use the markers, scissors and glue all the time while we set up our interactive notebooks. We use these notebooks every day, so we go through a lot of glue throughout the years. Your contribution has enriched the learning for my students. Thank you!”

Funded Sep 18, 2023I can't thank you enough for your incredible donation! These items have allowed us to do some amazing labs that we normally don't have the budget for. We made elephant toothpaste to learn about chemical reactions, and also made hydrogen by mixing zinc and hydrochloric acid. We lit a balloon filled with hydrogen for a large fireball. We used some of the chemicals purchased for a flame test, to see the different properties of elements. The project boards and headers will be an amazing tool for our Science fair in the spring. All of my advanced students are required to do a science fair project, and display it on these boards. You have made a huge difference in our classroom. Thank you!”

Funded May 9, 2023I can't begin to tell you how this subscription has changed my teaching and the engagement of students in my classroom. We've completed four Digital Escape Rooms so far, and all of the students loved them! They were completely engaged with the activities, and I saw them use their brains like I've never seen before. The Escape Rooms made them think outside the box, while reviewing material for our upcoming tests. Thank you for providing activities that can help my students learn, and have fun while doing it.
My students are already looking forwards to our next Escape Room, which will be in a few weeks after learning about atoms and The Periodic Table.
The Kesler Lab membership you helped purchase for our classroom also provides access to many different Science resources that I will use throughout the year. I will now have access to Inquiry Labs, Science Stations, Science Reading Skill practice, Bellringers, interactive notebook materials, and many more activities. Thank you for helping me create a fun and exciting Science class this year!”

Funded May 9, 2023I can't begin to tell you how these materials have improved our learning so far this year. Nothing makes science more memorable than labs, especially the labs that have fire or explosions. Some labs or demos we have been able to do with the supplies you provided for our classroom are:
-Teacher Demo: Using zinc and hydrochloric acid to create hydrogen. After capturing the hydrogen in a balloon, we lit the balloon (from far away) to show how hydrogen reacts with fire.
-Student Lab: Creating Elephant toothpaste using the hydrogen peroxide. By mixing hydrogen peroxide with yeast, water, and soap, the hydrogen peroxide works as a catalyst and causes a fast reaction, resulting in an explosion of soap bubbles that look like giant toothpaste being squeezed out of a tube.
-Teacher Demo: The sodium iodide can be used to create a larger Elephant Toothpaste reaction, which I do in front of the room.
-Student lab: Creating electric circuits. We were running out of batteries and the contact points for a lot of the motors had broken off. The batteries and motors will allow me to use the circuit lab for years to come.”

Funded Jan 14, 2023I am incredibly touched by your donation to my project! The Science Duo membership has given me some amazing resources for labs, stations, and different activities. As you can see from the photos, we were able to do a lot of labs throughout the year. The Science Duo membership gave me a guide for the different labs, along with lab report papers to go with them. I've also used the membership for instruction, testing, card sorts, stations, and demos. They have some really cool demos to introduce units. My students have enjoyed seeing those. Thank you so much for your generosity!”

Professional Science Fair Projects
Funded Jul 6, 2022The iPad you donated has helped our classroom immensely! We use it every day! We have used it for filming, creating, and editing Science Fair videos for the past two months. Many of my students are now proficient using iMovie, and have created some fantastic videos. We just had our school Science Fair, and my students had some great feedback from the judges. Our Regional Science Fair is in a few weeks and I can't wait to see how they do. I use the iPad every day while teaching! I bought an Apple pencil, and I can write notes, diagrams and instructions on the tablet and project them onto the screen. We use interactive notebooks, and I scan all of the pages and save a copy for each class on the iPad. I can then write on them as we go through the notebook. Everything is saved, and I can take a screenshot and upload that to Canvas for students who are absent. I included some examples in the Thank You pictures. This has been the biggest game changer in my classroom in 22 years of teaching. Not only can my students use it for videos and projects, but I use it anytime we take notes or do anything in our Science notebook. Thank you for changing the way I teach!”
