Through my years of teaching math, I have seen how graph lined paper has helped students clearly and effectively communicate mathematically and neatly solve math problems. So many times a student will make a small mistake and get an incorrect answer just because they have a number slightly misaligned. In fourth grade we do a lot of multi-digit multiplication and division where lining up place values is very important. We also work a lot with fractions and drawing models to represent those fractions. Using graph lined paper such as in in these quadrille spiral notebooks in combination with an ample supply of pencils will greatly help my students in their mathematical endeavors in 4th grade.
