An Apple (iPad) a Day Keeps STEM in Play
Funded Oct 11, 2021Words can not express how truly grateful this teacher is for your generous donations. I can not wait to share with you all the excitement and learning that will transpire in my classroom with these iPads. Funded Jul 23, 2021Thank you a million contained germs and sneezes and back! This donation will have such an impact on the health and safety of my students and myself. It is because of generous and caring people like you, making a difference in the lives of children (and teachers), that we can continue learning through our "new normal" school year. Because of you and Kleenex products we can stay safe and healthy.”

Funded Dec 15, 2020Prior to receiving these materials, students were engaged in play mimicking scenarios from their neighborhoods and television. Their "games" consisted of arresting each other, usually violently. Our playground equipment is dated, broken, and uninviting.
When my co-workers and I began to distribute the materials, the playground was quiet. They couldn't wait to begin playing, like kids, for the first time. Every ball was a marvel, the hoola-hoops and jump ropes fascinating. Behavior issues were no longer issues.
Students began to make their own games, shy students found joy in playing catch with other students, and I'm pretty sure I saw some future quarterbacks, too!
The best part was our students were playing like children. They came back from recess reenergized and focused for the rest of the day.
Thank you so much for giving these students these experiences with outdoor play.”

Funded Oct 14, 2018The kids have a clean and inviting space to build, read, dream, share, and learn. They have even used the dots in the rug to create mazes with popsicle sticks and create math games. It has become the meeting area, the place they know they will hear a good book, the hub of our little classroom community.
The rug is cheery and bright. It is also durable and the kids love to take turns caring for it when it needs to be swept.
At the end of the year, students created their own version of Twister to play on rainy day recess. They made their own spinners and rules. It was fun to see them so excited and enjoying the space your donation provided.
I know this rug will continue to make my classroom more inviting for years to come. Thank you.”

Bird Is The Word!
Funded Apr 18, 2020During our virtual learning days, I engaged my students with showing them live bird cams and had them record their observations. This was just a way to have them think like a scientist as an introduction to the scientific method. This 2 day activity sparked ideas of what would be the best bird feeder for the different birds, bird beaks, and bird diets. Their interest was piqued! When the schools reopened and we got our routines and procedures down, I reopened the interest. The students are so excited to explore our campus with their binoculars and field guide books in hand. The students have already started inquiring about our lack of birds at the school even though we have lots of big trees. We discovered an old bird bath that we never noticed until we started exploring for birds. The students, in that moment of discovery and recalling the live video cams with bird baths, decided they must clean and restore the bird bath in order to attract more birds. Thus, a hypothesis and a project based learning opportunity was born! Our school is featuring this in our weekly Motivational Monday video. None of this would have been possible without the support from amazing donors like you! Not to mention the love for bird watching by a group of inner city kiddos who may have never had this activity introduced to them. Thank you all so much.”
