Exploring Cultural Traditions with a Cricut
Funded Jan 26, 2022I want to say thank you so much for helping to fund this project for my students. My students have been through so much since last March 2020. This year we came back to in-person learning but have had a number of school building shutdowns back to remote learning due to the on-going pandemic. It has been a struggle for many of my students to get a routine down due to all of the constant changes but in the end they made progress during this crazy school year.
As a speech pathologist I see a range of ages in my school from K-8th grade. This year I predominantly service the K-6th graders. We do a social routine to work on pragmatic skills each week in the classes and with the cricut explore machine my students and I were able to make decorations for our celebration as well as crafts to represent the cultural tradition of the week. It also helped them work on their fine motor skills to be able to use the tools to create the crafts. The students are non-verbal, minimally verbal, and verbal so this was a way for them to get to work together to create decorations to celebrate their hard work and then their families were able to see their the results! The cricut machine also allowed me to create adapted materials for my students to use in other social routine activities.
My students were so proud when they saw their decorations at the end of the year cultural celebration. The students kept showing their peers or the teachers what they had made. We look forward to continuing to learn about more cultural traditions next year and have a new group of students learn to use the cricut machine with adult supervision. Thank you so much for what you have done for my students, it is greatly appreciated!”

Keep Calm and Bind Books
Funded May 4, 2021I want to say thank you so much for helping to fund this project for my students. My students have been through so much since last March 2020. This year we came back to in-person learning but have had a number of school building shutdowns back to remote learning due to the on-going pandemic. As a speech pathologist I see a range of ages in my school from K-8th grade. This year I predominantly service the K-2nd graders. We do a social routine to work on pragmatic skills each week in the classes and with the binding machine we were able to create a memory book filled with their work they completed throughout the year to share with their families. The students are non-verbal, minimally verbal, and verbal so this is a way for their families to see their hard work and learn a little more about what they doing at school. The binding machine also allowed me to create adapted materials for my students to use during the summer that won't be destroyed and will last multiple uses. It has been so nice to have more of a school and home connection with families this year through sending home materials.
My students were so proud when they saw their memory books that they kept showing their peers or the teachers what they had made. We look forward to continuing to make memory books at the end of each school year and sending home more adapted materials. Thank you so much for what you have done for my students, it is greatly appreciated!”

This classroom project was brought to life by SONIC Drive-In and 2 other donors.Boom There It Is!
Funded Sep 9, 2020I want to say thank you so much for helping to fund this project for my students. My students have been through so much since last March 2020. This year we came back to in-person learning but have had a number of school building shutdowns back to remote learning due to the on-going pandemic. It is a struggle for many of my students to participate in remote learning but with the help of this project being funded I have been able to get engaging activities on Teachers pay teachers and BOOM cards.
As a speech pathologist I see a range of ages in my school from K-8th grade. This year I predominantly service the K-2nd graders. We do core literacy lessons for 2 weeks at a time and this project helped to get new materials for those activities. The students are non-verbal, minimally verbal, and verbal so this lesson each week helps them to learn core words they can use to communicate with each other. The materials can be used as hands-on in the classroom or remotely which is a tremendous help during this uncertain time.
I was also able to get a core word AAC BOOM card activity which helps to make the lessons even more engaging. This is super helpful for my students who use devices to communicate. The students work on taking turns, their social/pragmatic skills, and have had such a fun time while learning. We look forward to continuing to do our core literacy lessons and expand to new words now thanks to your generous donations. Thank you so much for what you have done for my students, it is greatly appreciated!”
