Snacks & Storage!
Funded Sep 2, 2024Thank you so much for funding my grant project! I am truly grateful for your generosity, and feel such a weight lifted off my shoulders to purchase snacks or ask families to donate them. We have snack time every day in my second grade classroom. There is something inside of me that cannot let students go hungry if they forget to bring one from home, or do not have access to one at all. 54% of students in our school qualify for free and reduced lunch. There have been many years that I have spent hundreds of dollars (of my own money) on snacks for my classroom. With your help, I know that my students will now have access to healthy snacks.
Organized manipulatives make all the difference for 2nd graders. When items have a specific place, and students know where and how access to them- transitions are seamless. From extra headphones and chargers, to treasure box prizes and extra snacks; we will now have storage bins that are functional and fun!”

The One and Only Bob for My 19-20 2nd Graders!
Funded May 8, 2020I cannot begin to express the thanks and gratitude to all of the sponsors that helped fund our The One and Only Bob books!
When they finish second grade, they leave our school and attend our sister school down the road for third through fifth grade. I do not get to see my students very often unless they have younger siblings at our school. But all of the ones I have seen were so excited to receive their books and read them this summer! They were very grateful that they were able to continue reading a rich and complex text after finishing The One and Only Ivan in class last year.”

Storyworks Jr. Magazines for 2nd Grade Readers & Leaders!
Funded Aug 2, 2019This magazine subscription has been one of the best choices I ever made! My kids love the debate articles and they stimulate so many great conversations! We spent a whole week on the "Should Chocolate Milk be Banned at your School" article during our Social Studies time. The kids loved it and were very passionate about their choices of whether or not we should get rid of chocolate milk at our school. We even wrote letters to our principal stating our opinions!
We are very excited to dive into our upcoming issues! We are so excited and could not have had this experience without your help!
We are truly grateful!”

This classroom project was brought to life by Yellow Chair Foundation and 3 other donors.Help Us Be Snug As Bugs On A New Rug!
Funded Jan 24, 2018Words cannot express the gratitude that you deserve for donating to our Donors Choose project. Our rug is absolutely amazing! The first day we received it the kids were literally rolling around on the floor. It was so soft and so purple- we fell in LOVE!
We have been using our rug in many ways. We sit on it a minimum of five times a day for whole group instruction and for opening or closing meetings. The kids will sit on the floor at the front of our classroom and use clipboards do classwork. They love reading together on our new rug and listening to stories.
We are so very thankful that we had to opportunity to set up this project and that it was funded so quickly. We are sincerely enjoying our new rug, and we could not have done it without your generosity.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Madsen
