These materials that I am requesting will go a long way for my students to gain hands-on experience with science. For many of my students, science is an intimidating prospect and they are discouraged from trying. It is my hope that bringing real world application and problems into the classroom, they will be more inclined to investigate their curiosity and take that leap of faith. Science is now, and I want my students to be exposed to its many aspects so that when they leave high school, they will not be ignorant of how the world around them works. They hear and see so many outstanding children making a mark on their community and they want to do the same. They want to try things like growing a chicken without the egg like in Japan or even explore the options of sustainable micro-farming in their homes. I want to use this equipment as well in my science club. I find that students are very interested in DNA and how it works. We explored the different methods of biotechnology and now they want to try the methods for themselves. It is my wish that using these instruments and exploring what is taught in class be a great gateway into more complex scientific study. This is the time when students can engage in science without the constraint of a limited class period. I want to be able to pass on my passion for science and to give them the same experience I was exposed to
