  • Supplies For Writing

    Funded Dec 31, 2023

I greatly appreciate the support in obtaining materials for engaging in the writing process. Students will store their smaller writing products from class in the folders and use the name tags to identify which folder will be theirs. The mechanical pencils ensure all students can access a writing utensil to complete their smaller writing assignments.

Having these items within their reach will enrich my students' learning experiences by allowing them to learn that writing is a process and they need time to think through what they are reading and thinking.

Thank you so much for the support of my classroom community.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ernst

  • Continuing to Build Bridges

    Funded Oct 23, 2023

Thank you so much for your generosity! The books of the Disability History of the United States and the Unworthy Republic will enrich the classroom curriculum by introducing previously unheard voices in developing a more inclusive history course. That will benefit my students and our community as we grapple with learning and discussing social justice issues. There are so many events in history not fully covered or comprehensively addressed in the standard history book.

My students have benefited in numerous ways from your support simply because we can engage in the conversation about a more fully represented history.

    Again, thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Ernst

  • Tools for Amplifying Student Voice

    Funded May 18, 2023

I greatly appreciate funding the resources required for creating a learning environment for my students to thrive with primary sources. These items will allow me to organize primary sources in a central location to enrich my students' learning experiences by having hard copies of the materials. Many students work best with items in their hands.

My current students have started to organize the materials in preparation for the next school year while providing me with suggestions on how to update the course.

Thank you so much for the support of my classroom community. This lets my students know they have the tools needed to raise their voices.”

I greatly appreciate the funding of the books to extend my classroom resources and the pencils and highlights that will act as tools for working with primary sources. These items have enrichened my students' learning experiences by having them within their reach.

My students have started to organize the materials in preparation for the next school year while using the highlighters to identify key ideas in the text this school year.

  • Podcast Tools for Student Voice

    Funded Jul 21, 2022

Fantastic! Thank you so much for supporting our class project of creating podcasts! My students were excited to learn they would have the items to record their podcasts. It has been a struggle to produce the podcasts.

These items will allow students to hear their voices and hard work in a digital medium. Students will use their critical thinking skills, use primary sources, develop an answer to a question that the class had designed and write a podcast script with their answers incorporated.

In addition, the items will allow future classes to record podcasts.”

  • Honoring Mock Trial Graduates!

    Funded Mar 18, 2022

I greatly appreciate the funding of graduation cords for my Mock Trial Program members. It will allow me to honor those students who participate in an academic-based club on a weekly basis. Also, when I informed students about the graduation cords, they were excited about having a special honor for graduation to recognize their hard work and dedication to learning about the court room operates.

Thank you so much for the support of my Mock Trial Program students. This makes graduation even more special for them.”

  • Two More Tables for Project Based Learning

    Funded Jul 20, 2021

The tables have arrived and are now part of the classroom! Students are excited by a different area in the classroom available to them for projects. Students wanted to use the tables right away to work on their classroom assignments.

These tables will ensure that students can have hands-on learning assignments and can work collaborative in a central space. The impact will be ongoing but I am already witnessing the students excitement that they are being supported by receiving tables to change their learning environment.”

My students live in a diverse, urban area with many challenges, however, the goal is to provide student opportunities to learn and to interact with the world around them. Funding concerns for supplies and new content materials is a major issue in my diverse, urban school district. In addition, many of the students do not have the finances to pay to attend a field trip to cover the bus and we are competing against established school programs for funding. At Lowell High School, we have over 3,000 students consisting of economically disadvantaged students 38.8%, students with disabilities 10.2%, English Language Learners 11.9%, and 66.7% of our entire student population is eligible for a free or reduced lunch.
