Funded Aug 15, 2023This grant allowed my class to have a full year of showing their know! Comfortable headphones during standardized testing and research projects allows students to focus and do their best work. Students can use the built in mics to practice recording themselves reading or other speaking projects. They also loved the fun colors and get to show their personality.
Students have been able to use the highlighters for highlighting and color coding in Math, English, and Science. Strategic use of colors helps long term memory storage and recall. Thank you so much for the donations and support of our classroom. It takes the financial pressure off of me and makes the learning environment more fun!”

Funded Apr 11, 2023Playing board games in class transformed my class last year. There were many inside recess days due to weather and I did not allow students to be on their Chromebooks during that time.
When I introduced board games to them they were a hit. It even became a highly requested fast finisher activity. Chess was particularly popular and the students began setting up tournaments. Other students set up The Game of Life and asked that it be left out since it can take longer than the 15 minutes recess.
I watched as students began working together and encouraging each other even when they were losing. Different friend groups began to intermix and work together. I am so excited to start this school year off with these games and foster a community even earlier.”

21st Century Classroom Basics
Funded Aug 10, 2022Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. It has allowed me to individualize student's learning while in class. The headphones allow students to listen to and watch educational videos individually and at their own pace. The mics on the headphones have been used with students narrating their slideshow reports without having to be in front of the whole class. They can listen back to themselves and hear how they sound and retry certain projects.
The computer mice allow students to access the technology more simply. They have more control than they would by using their Chromebook trackpad alone. Even using the right click option is game changing with class projects and allows easier editing.
The highlighters allow me to show students how to color coordinate their work and focus on things in all subjects. Students love having all the options of colors and personalize their learning. Having the supply I have allows students to grab what they need whenever they need it.”

Funded Oct 9, 2019The supplies you generously helped purchase have made an immense impact in my classroom. My students were so excited about having a special binder to keep their tests and data in. Previously, they used a simple folder for their data and now it feels all that more special and it helps them be more accountable! I even taught them how to use dividers In their three-ring binders and how to organize their supplies. This will help them as they progress in their education and in their lives. I've noticed that many of them haven't had the chance to be taught these little life skills and these supplies allow me to teach them!”

Funded Oct 24, 2018I cannot express how grateful I am to you and your generosity toward supplying my class with flexible seating options! I use these options to reward good behavior in class. The students earn points throughout the week using a program called ClassDojo and the student with the most points gets the first choice of all of our options. The kneeling chairs are usually the first to be chosen, along with our low table seats that use the reading pillows as back support. It is so fun to see these students hard at work while sitting in a comfortable position, because, let's be honest, sitting in the hard school chairs all day does not sound fun.
When I first showed my students the materials, they were so excited! I surprised them by having the chair bands on their chairs before they came in on Monday morning. These allow each student to move their feet without kicking other students or the chair. I introduced the kneeling chairs slowly to teach expectations and use the storage bins to hold the floor tables and grading materials.
These supplies have truly enticed learning within my classroom and I can see my class try every day because they are comfortable where they are at.”

Funded Oct 5, 2017I cannot thank you enough for your support of my classroom! The supplies your donation has provided have allowed my class to truly function as a community. The Iris organizers have given my students a sense of personal space while they sit at tables together. However, they do not get as cluttered as the desks I've had previously.
The computer mice and headphones have been instrumental to my students' success! They can now use there school Chromebooks and navigate the many websites and tests that they use without becoming frustrated due to discomfort or complicated movements on track pads. Seeing my class blossom has been magnificent.”

Math Notebooks: Conquering Fear One Day at a Time
Funded Jul 25, 2017The graph notebooks and math supplies have been especially helpful to my student's math lessons. A focus in my classroom this year is exploring concepts connected to math. I really have tried to allow my students to play with models and draw out math problems and having grid paper has helped even students who do not have spacial skills yet to engage in the same process.
During the first week of school I showed my students the notebooks that you so generously donated and they gave out a collective awe! Then showing them the math pencil boxes was equally exciting. They love that they can highlight using the same colors that I use on my Smart Board.
I have had so many comments from students that they now understand how math works because they have been able to explore using these awesome supplies. We cannot thank you enough.”

Funded Oct 30, 2016My students have loved using the resources for the Brag Tags! I've made some really fun tags to reward them for positive behaviors and successes! Every time a brag tag is handed out the pride on the student's face is unmistakable! The whole class is proud of them too and will cheer them on! One of my students just moved to the United States from Vietnam and the first time he received a brag tag for reading his eyes lit up and a huge smile spread across his face while my whole class erupted into applause!
My students were really excited to see the fun and pretty colors of the paper in the boxes and the labels I've been able to make have made organizing the brag tags really easy. I can even tell a student to go get a brag tag from one of the boxes and they know just where to find them! These students are really excited to show off their awards and can't wait to take them home at the end of the year!
I plan on creating more brag tags to reward different actions I see in my class, especially when the students are trying new and hard things!”

Wiggle While Learning
Funded Oct 17, 2016My students are really enjoying all of the supplies! I have made the yoga balls an incentive or reward for the table group that is best behaved during the week and it's a big hit. The wiggle seats and cushions are also a good support for students since they have to spend so much time sitting throughout the day. My students' focus has been fantastic since we've been using these and they can wiggle. It also gives me a visual cue to give them a movement break to get their energy out!
My students were ecstatic when we opened up the boxes of supplies! I even used opening the boxes as a reward! There was so much cheering and celebration! They were amazed that such a wonderful organization would donate the funds for these supplies!
The next project we are working on is getting a class iPad so that students can take pictures and share their successes with their parents! We are also writing book reviews which is a fun writing activity that allows students write from the heart!”

Ms. Knoll
