  • Lights, Camera, Action!

    Funded Mar 10, 2016

It is with great gratitude and appreciation that I write this thank you note. Some of you have donated to my class in the past, but for some, it was your first time donating through Donor's Choose. Your donations are greatly needed to fund classroom projects. With your help, we can deliver an enhanced classroom experience to our students.

My students have received the Lenovo 2-in-1 tablet. We have begun incorporating them into our daily instructional day. Students are using them to memorize math facts, conduct research, and learn the basic of computer programming.

My students who are newcomers to the country can listen to books, thus allowing them another opportunity to learn English. They can also use the tablets to view pictures of unfamiliar words. The tablets will provide them with the necessary tools to learn English.

All students will benefit from the additional technology in our classroom. Thank you so much for your support!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Ayala

  • What Do We Want? Technology! When Do We Want It? Now!

    Funded May 5, 2015

Thank you so much for generous donation to our class project on Donors Choose. Thanks to you, we can now use the iPad and mirror it on our Apple TV. Students can follow along and view what I have on my iPad screen. It makes our lesson more interactive and fun! For example, I can go on educational applications and display it for the students.I can also take pictures of student work and display it via the Apple TV. Students can help me analyze the work, give positive feedback and give suggestions for improvement. Having an Apple TV is another important tool to have in our classroom. Thank you for your support!”

  • Technology at our Fingertips!

    Funded Mar 10, 2015

I'm deeply grateful for the Mac Book Pro we received. With your donations, we were able to fully fund the project. I'm very appreciative of your support and glad to see that people continue to help out our schools (especially when we are in need of funding for our technology.

My students have begun using the laptop to do Xtramath and Accelerated Reader in the classroom. They were so excited to have the opportunity to use this brand new computer.

I was also able to begin using the laptop to create assignments for my students. Sometimes teachers need to create their own tasks to meet their students' needs.

Thank you again for funding the project!”

  • Creating 21st Century Learners!

    Funded Mar 1, 2015

I was so excited to use my iPad at a professional development for the first time. I was finally able to interact with the presentation and follow along with the PowerPoint. When the presenter suggested specific Apps to use in the classroom, I was able to download them on the spot and practice using them. Finally, I was able to take pictures of posters that I would want to recreate for for my class. Thank you so much for your support and for providing me with the opportunity to feel like a 21st Century Learner!”

  • Let's Get into Technology

    Funded Jan 21, 2012

It is with great appreciation that I write this letter. Without your help, we would be unable to fund our project. As you are aware, it is difficult to get new computers for our schools due to the severity of the education budget cuts. Sites like "DonorsChoose" are the only option educators have to get the needed resources for our classrooms. Thanks to the Wasserman foundation and people like you, our projects are getting funded and we are receiving our resources.

We now have a computer in our classroom to be used for various projects. My students will able to conduct research on the Internet and create projects on the computer. This will allow them to learn valuable computer skills thus, better preparing them for their future. Thanks again for your assistance in reaching our goal!”

    With gratitude,

  • Accessing The World Through Technology

    Funded Dec 12, 2011

My students have greatly benefited from the computer and the camera. They have begun to create projects where they can take pictures and upload them to the computer. They can then include them in their PowerPoint presentation. They get so excited every time they are given an opportunity to work on their projects.

As you are aware, there have been severe budget cuts to schools. Our computers have not been updated in many years, making some of them obsolete. With your donation, we are one step closer to updating the technology in our classroom. Thank you so much for your contribution!

  • Developing Great Writers

    Funded Dec 8, 2011

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. My students have already started using the books to become aware of great writing and they have begun incorporating it into their own writing. They are beginning their essays with wonderful openings that capture the reader and they also end with a closing that leaves an impression in the reader's mind.

As you are aware, our schools are facing severe budget cuts and without the help of donors like you, it would be very difficult to get these valuable resources into our classroom. Thanks again!”

    Mrs. Ayala

Our school is a suburban elementary located within the second largest school district. Like many other districts, we are suffering from serious financial problems, so our school is unable to budget for classroom purchases. Many of our students are considered to be economically disadvantaged. A large percentage are recent immigrants and lack the funds to donate to our school. Donors are the only hope we have for our students to completely access the curriculum in a memorable and meaningful way. My classroom is comprised of a very diverse population who come to the U.S. to live the American Dream. Many come from single parent homes where some parents work odd hours or double shifts. Despite the challenges faced by my students, both parents and students are determined to succeed and willing to work hard. My students' efforts are evident in much of their work and many are achieving grade level standards.
