I see 12 groups of 6-7 (k-3rd graders) daily for small group intervention instruction in ELA. Our focus is Readin, Writing, Listening and Speaking in English. My students are at least 2 grades behind on their Reading scores. Small group instruction, using differentiated teaching techniques are used to help them catch up to grade level. Most of my students are English Learners and come from low-socioeconomic homes. Their low test scores are due to their low acquisition of the English language or lack of resources at home to support their learning needs. The two kidney tables would be used for my intervention students as well as Language Support groups that also receive services in Room 35. The Language Support groups are designed to help our students that have been in the US for less than a year and that need small group instruction for language exposure for everyday phrases and phonics instruction.
