Arts and Crafts!
Funded Oct 11, 2021Words cannot begin to describe how appreciative I am that you chose to donate to this project! I cannot wait to show you all the amazing works of art that my students create. My students need this more than you know and it means the world to them that you all believe in them!”

Wiggle for the Stars!
Funded Sep 4, 2019I want to begin by sharing how truly fortunate my students and I are to have received your generous donation. The impact that my materials have had on student learning is one that I do not take for granted!
During my instruction, students have some time to work with their peers on an inquiry based mathematical question. While they are working, they have a choice on whichever seat they prefer: stools, beanbag, lap desk, or just criss-crossed on the carpet. During this time, they use their timers to allow each group member a chance to share their thoughts. Knowing that they each have their own allotted time to share their ideas gives them a better sense of being a team player. Without these timers, the dominant students usually take over the conversation and don't allow much collaboration within the groups. Many of my students still struggle with telling time. I was able to get a large clock that is labeled by hour, minutes and even quarter hours so that students have a better understanding of the way a clock works. The use of the clock is enforced as students have to sign in and out for bathroom breaks.
At first my students were a little confused as to why strangers would be willing to donate to their classroom. After explaining the mission and the importance of having donors, they soon realized that there are people out there in the world that will contribute to their learning- even though they're strangers! They were extremely excited to begin using the tools right away and till this day they race to grab the stools.
As my next step, I would love to work on organizing my classroom in terms of student work. We are required to have so many notebooks and folders for the students that we simply cannot keep up. As a result, students are constantly losing their notebooks and folders and I cannot afford to keep buying them crucial items (I end up doing so anyway). I would love to start a project just to ask for notebooks, pencils, plastic folders with flaps and some sort of organization tool to help them stay organized. It seems like such a small thing to ask for, but in this community, any little bit helps.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Abdallah
