Care Closet
Funded Mar 31, 2025MAHALO NUI LOA!!
Thank you thank you, ONCE AGAIN, for donating and providing this amazing platform for educators to utilize!
It is with great gratitude that I can share with you the amazing impact your donations are making. It has provided at least one student with water for the day, something to eat, deodorant, dinner for that night, and so much more!
With your help you I am reaching towards being able to open the "Care Closet" to many more students who might need things.
Words cannot even begin to describe how grateful I am for this opportunity!!
Thank you so much, again!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mahuna
Help Us Fill Our "Care Closet!"
Funded Mar 15, 2025MAHALO NUI LOA! Thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart. Donors Choose is such an amazing project that helps educators like me reach our keiki in any way possible.
The "Care Closet" is something I introduced the second day with the keiki. Since I came later on in the year with only a couple weeks left of school I wanted to make sure I was not lacking in anything. I know some may think "just get through the year" but I wanted to make sure I was doing everything I can to give these students the best. I created expectations in our classroom on the first day so that the "Care Closet" could be put to use. Some of our expectations include "Being Pono." With this I taught them about accountability and doing what is right. I explained how the "Care Closet" started out of the kindness of my own heart and how I wanted to provide them with the things I think they would need to succeed. Another one of our classroom expectations is to "Mālama" or take care. I explained how this is not my classroom but OUR classroom so we both have to take care of what we have in here and most importantly take care of each other. With all this set in place I was able to introduce the "Care Closet!"
The resources will be used daily and as needed. So far almost everyday I can count at least 15 trips to the "Care Closet." Your donations will be such amazing news when the students return from Spring Break! We watched as our project was quickly getting donations all day on Friday March 14 and every time it did we would all jump for joy!
My dream was to be able to make it a necessity that every class has a "Care Closet." If that could be my next step I would love to move in that direction. I strongly believe in Maslowʻs theory and the success it creates.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Mahuna
