Toys and Tools for My Students!
Funded Feb 12, 2025Firstly, I wanted to thank you once again for your generous donation to my project. With the overfunding from my initial project, I decided to purchase a screen protector/case for the iPad to keep it safe, as well as other toys I thought my students would benefit from and enjoy. I'm so excited to say that these toys have brought so many smiles to so many faces and lots of communication opportunities! I have many young students who have been highly enjoying the cause-and-effect toy that was purchased through your donations. These specific students tend to have difficulties maintaining attention and being engaged with a task, and they all love this toy so much and tend to be engaged for the full 30-minute speech therapy session. We target a lot of language with this toy especially core vocabulary words which are very important in day to day life. The hungry hippos toy has been used as a reinforcer for my older students and it has increased their engagement and motivation level during structured activities like reading stories or working on worksheets etc. They are so excited for the end of the session when they can play this game, and not only is it a great reinforcer, it helps my students learn how to socialize with one another, and brings a lot of communication opportunities as well. Thank you again from my students and i!”

Empowering Communication: AAC Tools for Every Student
Funded Jan 19, 2025Firstly I just wanted to express my gratitude again to your generous donation towards my project. Upon receiving the iPad, I instantly started researching applications I can obtain to use with my students. I have been using about two applications with them consistently, and will be downloading more in future months so they can have a variety and choose their preference. Although some students do have their own communication devices, often the device may not be accessible to them due to it not being charged or not being brought to school that specific day, and many students do not have their own. This device has given me the opportunity to be able to share it with each and every student. My students have been enjoying exploring the different applications and seeing which one they like most, which is most accessible to them, and which one feels comfortable and natural. To see the joy on my students faces when they are able to communicate their thoughts, feelings, and ideas with this device fills my heart with so much happiness. We use this device across settings, whether its in the therapy room, classroom, school trips, the cafeteria, or even when we play outside. I plan to use this device over the warmer months in our garden and other school trips as well so my students can express themselves across various settings and be provided with natural opportunities to communicate. Thank you so much again from my students and I!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nofar
