Projector for Our Media Presentations!
Funded Jan 10, 2022I want to humbly thank you for your generous donation. The students are absolutely in love with their new projector, but especially in love with the opportunity to watch themselves in action, performing in the shows they have worked so hard for so long.
On the very first day I hooked it up and streamed their movie, the kids could not stop talking about it. They were so excited and happy to watch the result of their practicing for our winter show, specifically. Words cannot express the tears in their eyes and the love and support that they had for each other when they saw their very own show.
What is beautiful about this donation is the confidence that I'm positive it will inspire from all my students, the courage they will have to continue performing this year, and maybe the rest of their life. Such a small thing to create such massive joy and for that I am truly grateful.”

Funded Oct 23, 2020I am deeply humbled and honored by your donation to my "virtual" music classroom. My students deserve the very best technology and your donations made it possible.
I have been using the tablet and keyboard to enhance my virtual classroom, as I am teaching music solely remote this year. I create the presentations on my tablet, then share with the students, which is a great way to keep them focused and on task.
One thing my students adore is a game I created called "Chat Trivia." Using the tablet and keyboard, I type in questions via the chat box on Google Classroom and have the students type back the answer to me. I usually use this game at the end of a unit, or a fun game before a holiday. It would be very difficult without the supplies you helped obtain.
Hoping you have a very happy new year and once again, I can not possible thank you enough!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Brosky

Funded Aug 19, 2020Thank you again for your wonderful donation. Since I am teaching 100% remote this year, I had to get extra creative while using the materials that were so graciously donated to me. As opposed to my students using it first hand (that time will come, I promise!) I am using it primarily at home as a background for various music projects.
For example, I have recently taught my students a version of the Fairy Tale, The Three Billy Goats Gruff using jazz songs intertwined with puppets and story telling. Using my green screen and lighting, I was able to have the students create backgrounds for the story, send them to me and use them as the scene setting for our fairy tale, which I recorded and sent to the students via Google Classroom. It was wonderful seeing how creative they could be at home, while using a forum that is still so new, very inspiring!
I can not wait to implement my materials in the classroom the way they were meant to be used, but for now, my students seem to have a good time watching their creativeness come to life in a home setting. Thank you amazing donors, thank you!”

Mrs. Brosky

Funded Jan 31, 2017Once again I thank you for your generous donation to help make my students sound good!!! I know that many people use technology in their homes, but having a sound system with microphones in our school, like the one that was donated, really has enhanced student productions tremendously.
The most exciting thing to my students is that when their families come to see a show, every word can be heard so clear! The families, our main audience, is really thrilled to hear (not just see!) their little ones preform and sing with the microphones and sound system.
In my humble opinion, those students with special needs have really warmed up to this equipment more than anyone. It has really encouraged several of them to experiment and find their voice and to become more confident when speaking. The look on their faces when they hear themselves speak or sing through the speakers is worth more than anything to me as a teacher.
At the risk of sounding repetitive, I must again say - thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! (Just imagine us using our microphones for that last one!!!)”

Laptop for Music Classroom
Funded Aug 14, 2016Dear Donors,
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generous donations. Because of them, my students have been able to use the new laptop computer in our music classroom for such a wide array of projects.
We have been able to hook the computer up to a projector to showcase different forms of media in music. The students are able to use the computer to play games such as The Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra, which helps them learn the names and sounds of the instruments. I have been able to pull up images from around the world as we learn about different cultures and sing songs from various countries. The speakers provide us the opportunity to sing along with pieces we are learning.
However, I think my student's favorite thing is the main reason I asked for this product: To compose their own songs. I downloaded several programs and allow the students to work in small groups to make up their own melody, rhythm and lyrics. It truly allows them to be creative and expressive, while learning key elements of composing and working together.
As a thank you to our many donors, one group came up with a short song to truly express our gratitude:
Thank you, thank you, thank you all
Your gift was great and in no way small
You are helping our class have so much fun
As we create music for everyone!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Brosky
Music Around the World
Funded Aug 18, 2015The words that I first heard out of my students mouths when they saw their new instruments were "cool!" and "awesome!" They were so excited to add these multicultural instruments into our lessons.
My third grade classes are working on a "Music Around the World" celebration. Every week we explore a new country and talk about their culture, learn a song, and even get to try an instrument common in the music of that country. These instruments make the latter possible. All students have created a "passport," which allows them to "travel" and write down things they have learned or found interesting throughout the lesson. We are using the Music Around the World Song Bank to learn many of these new songs. What I love about them the most is that there are multi-cultural activities on the back of each card that provides the students with a deeper understanding of the music and the culture. The CD provides the actual song so the students can listen to the music (and in many cases, dance to it!)
The ultimate goal of this project is to host a multi-cultural celebration in late May, with all students speaking about what they have learned, singing songs from the different countries and demonstrating proper use of the instruments.
I cannot thank everyone enough for their kind and thoughtful donation. It means so much to me and my students that there are people out there who truly value the importance of musical education. My applause to all of you!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Brosky
A Quiet Classroom is a Happy Classroom!
Funded Aug 5, 2011My class excessively thanks all of you who have donated to help my class achieve a more productive learning environment.
Immediately after receiving the "Chair Sox," I noticed a huge different - my special needs students were no longer holding their hands over their ears whenever someone got up out of their seats. The noise level in my classroom has been incredibly diminished and our children love showing visitors our fun, new item!
The calendar has been in use since the moment we received it - every morning during our "Morning Routines," I assign a different student to tell me the date, day of the week and weather. My children LOVE selecting the appropriate magnet and placing it on the correct space and the bright colors are absolutely eye-catching. What I love about this product, in addition, is the ability to create our own magnets (such as "Class Trip" or "Book Fair") so the children know that their calendar is catered and specific to our class. The mathematic bonus is huge as well.
Again, my class and myself thank you!!! ”

Mrs. Brosky
