Funded Nov 6, 2024Thank you so much for supporting our classroom and contributing to this project for marine-themed resources!
Since receiving these resources, our students have been using them in various meaningful ways. We've had sessions with reflective journaling, where students can jot down their thoughts or sketch marine scenes inspired by our classroom tank. This has become a calming activity, allowing students to focus and practice mindfulness. The interactive coloring pages are especially popular; students often gather around the tank, coloring in species we discuss in class, which not only helps them learn about marine life but also promotes relaxation and connection with one another.
The day the materials arrived was unforgettable—the students' were delighted when they saw the vibrant marine designs and the journals we'd been waiting for. There was an instant buzz as they began exploring everything. Many expressed excitement about adding personal touches to the journals and coloring pages, and one student shared that having these tools made them feel like they had "a piece of the water in class."
As for next steps, we're expanding our mindfulness activities. Soon, students will create small projects reflecting on marine life and how the ocean influences them personally. This will culminate in a presentation, building both confidence and a sense of pride in their work. With your support, these resources are helping students manage stress, build resilience, and stay engaged with their learning. Thank you for playing an invaluable role in creating a classroom where students not only learn but also thrive emotionally and academically.”
