The storybooks that I received help me focus on social-emotional learning (SEL) and inclusiveness in my speech therapy sessions. These books provide a narrative structure that helps my students explore and understand complex emotions, social interactions, and diverse perspectives, which are key elements of communication.

I am using the books to address several important goals, such as improving self-confidence, promoting inclusion, and enhancing speech and language development. In addition, these books offer a rich environment to target specific skills such as vocabulary building, pragmatic language skills, story comprehension, self-expression and confidence, and inclusion and acceptance.

My students are developing these skills, and they not only are working toward achieving their specific speech and language goals but also improving their overall self-confidence and their ability to interact with others in an inclusive, empathetic way.”
