Funded Oct 16, 2024I truly appreciate your kindness. When I prepared my office with all of the new resources for students, I could see their face light up entering the room. Each student was interested in either a fidget toy or reading out daily affirmation cards. I'm so grateful to be able to provide the calm they need in their day. During my group counseling students are happy to pick out a game to play. This week we tried that chat, chill, challenge game. Students were able to answer prompts and learn about each other. Other times students feel more adventurous and want to answer prompt questions while playing with the blocks (similar to Jenga). I am thrilled that students know they have a place to find tools that can help them. I would not be able to afford supplies for my cohort of 145 students.
I would like to continue seeking for tools and ways to have students engaged in my counseling office. It is easier for some students to speak out if they are engaged. I would like to also include resources students may need for hygiene. Creating my space to be a place they can find an answer to their needs. As well as to provide the space with relatable reading content. Books on being a successful student, and mental health topics.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Almonte
