Funded Jan 13, 2025Christmas morning, that is what it was like when I showed my students all of the new hats and gloves that were received! Their eyes sparkled, the yells of thank you across the room, and even the energy went up the instant they realized that they mattered to others.
The snacks were a welcomed boost to stay productive until the end of the day. Some students who we knew were in more of a need at home, were sent home with a few extra treats. The goldfish were a big hit and were gobbled up with an enthusiastic sense of comfort. Sometimes we take the simple things for granted, like a small bag of goldfish. Not my students! They were so grateful for everything that was given to support their learning and well-being in my classroom. They couldn't wait to show off their new hats and gloves!
The gloves and hats that I selected for them were fitted with tech friendly fingertips so students were able to navigate their phones and devices without taking them off. Each student was able to pick out their set from red, black, or grey, the school colors. This allowed them to stay warm on their way to and from school while still being in dress code according to the student handbook.
Thank you to all that helped make this project, "Warm Hearts, Full Bellies" a resounding success! I appreciate you letting my students know that others want them to be successful in and outside of my classroom. Theme, or "The Message" is what we are focusing on right now in ELA. It is a message that can relate to general life, the message or theme of their story is that they matter and can and will be successful!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Sotak
