Funded Oct 21, 2024Thank you for providing our class with an updated and improved carpet for our classroom community time. Being together in a circle has cultural significance, and we have a mission to preserve and cultivate the meaningful cultural elements that are vital to this community. Having a place to sit near where the Lushootseed alphabet is posted, and near where we have visual aids regarding the teachings around story telling is important to this community. Having letters on the carpet where we can assign seating and adjust on the fly is important for classroom management as well as reinforcing grapheme and phoneme instruction, as literacy instruction is a big initiative for the tribe. We are safer in our classroom by not tripping over upturned corners on our old and outdated carpet we had before, and we thank you for prioritizing the health and safety of our class.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Hageman
