Art for Destressing

Funded Sep 23, 2024

With the materials we received, I have been able to give my students breakfast snacks for the whole semester! They were all so excited to have access to a classroom snack closet, and it made a huge difference in students who were too hungry to concentrate in the mornings without a breakfast.

Beyond the snacks, we've been able to use the coloring books for mindfulness and destressing, especially after assessments. We were able to set up an arts and crafts shelf that students could grab materials from anytime they needed to doodle to concentrate or color in a picture to relax after a quiz.

Our colored pencils have been useful for both arts activities and color coding in math class! Especially for students who don't have access to a lot of school supplies, it's been wonderful to be able to provide extra supplies for them. With these new colored pencils, our next project will be to create a tile pattern book where students can use color coding to show off their problem-solving strategies.”

With gratitude,

Ms. Chen
