Hands-On Holidays: Exploring Diverse Cultures Through Craft
Funded Dec 18, 2024Thank you so much for your generous donations to our classroom. It has been an amazing experience getting to utilize these supplies and let the students express themselves and their culture in the classroom. The culturally diverse books, craft supplies, and holiday decorations have made a significant impact on my students, creating a more inclusive and enriching learning environment for all. Since our class has many diverse cultures and religions it is very important to me to make sure that they are all expressed, represented and respected in their own way.
We have got to work using many of the supplies such as the crayons, glue, scissors and construction paper to complete Martin Luther King Jr. projects in January. We also made paper dragons for Chinese New Year and Read the donated book "The Night Before Lunar New Year." Furthermore, the students completed Black History month projects in February using the construction paper and crayons.
The students and I also look forward to using more in the upcoming holidays of Holi, St.Patrick' Day, Eid al-fitr, Easter and Cinco de Mayo. Nonetheless, It is wonderful to see them so excited, especially when they realized they could relate to the stories and see themselves in the books we were reading. The holiday decorations created an atmosphere of inclusivity, and my students felt proud to see their culture represented alongside others. At the craft supplies help them to express themselves and their own culture in a positive way!
We cannot thank you enough for your generosity. It is so highly appreciated! You have made an everlasting impact on my students school experience!”

Funded Nov 13, 2024Your contribution to our classroom have already had a remarkable impact on my students' learning, particularly in our math-themed projects. With the new resources, they've been able to explore concepts in more hands-on and interactive ways, which has made learning math both fun and meaningful.
When my students first saw the new materials, their excitement was so joyous to see. They couldn't wait to dive in and start experimenting with the new resources. It was clear that having access to these resources gave them a greater sense of ownership over their learning and sparked their curiosity in ways that a textbook alone couldn't.
Looking ahead, we're moving into working more with fractions and I cannot wait for the students to work with the manipulatives further. The next steps will involve using the resources you've helped provide to create visual representations of equations, fractions and proportions so students can better understand the visual concepts by relating them to real-world situations. I can't wait to see their creativity and understanding deepen as they apply these materials to their work.
Once again, thank you so much for making all of this possible! Your support is truly making a difference in my students' math education. We are so grateful for your kindness!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Carucci
