Literacy for All Subjects

Funded Dec 2, 2024The numerous books that you donated to my class have made a huge impact. I have a very diverse class, and so many of my students have been thrilled to read about their culture and heritage. The book "White Bird" is now one of the most sought after books in my classroom among my students of Jewish heritage. Additionally, we have been reading "Ain't Burned All Bright", and the illustrations and the format of the book has resounded with my students. "Ain't Burned All Bright" was created using an A5 journal during COVID, and it has captivated my students. We have had meaningful discussions about journaling, as well as how COVID impacted all of us. My students were in kindergarten/1st grade during COVID, and it is astounding how they still recall the impact it had on them, and how they can identify with the characters in the book.
Thank you for making literacy important, relevant and real to my students. It is important for them to make connections to the world around them and grow an appreciation for other cultures. Your donation is helping to build a generation of empathetic and understanding young adults.”

Funded Nov 11, 2024The items you graciously purchased are well used and appreiated by my students. Every day they go to the cubby to grab cushions to sit on the floor where I teach, keeping them engaged and learning. I find great joy in having my kiddos "right there" with me as I instruct them. The floor seating provides them something comfortable to sit on while they are fully engaged in learning. I can not thank you enough for providing my students these seating options.
Additionally, the fidgets and wiggle feet cushions provide all my students with ways to move without disrupting class. One can walk into my classroom at any given moment and see these items in use without disrupting the other children. My students with ADHD and those on the Autism Spectrum are particularly fond of these tools. I appreciate that my kids needs to move are met without disrupting our learning environment.
The social emotional learning books are rarely on the shelf, as kiddos are reading them and using the coping tools provided. My students are primarily military children, and have experienced, or are experiencing trauma on a daily basis. The SEL books, and especially the sloth weighted stuffy are in constant use. They provide my students much needed comfort.”

Funded Feb 14, 2025Thank you for your continued support of my classroom and students. Sometimes it is just the little things that can make a world of difference and make a great impact. They are going to love having the large posters to color as a way to regulate or calm down. The lighting will help create a calm environment as I strive to build a trauma informed classroom to support all learners. My students with noise sensitivity will be thrilled to have more noise blocking headphones, they have been asking for more!”

Flexible Seating for Students with ADHD
Funded Oct 22, 2024The students LOVE all the different seating options. This seating has students at the heart of where I teach, keeping them engaged in learning, while comfortable. Not all students thrive sitting at a traditional desk. So many of my kiddos need to be able to move throughout a lesson, and this seating gives them a lot of flexible options.
They were ecstatic when they came into class the first day! It has made for an inclusive and comfortable learning environment! The seating also allows for wonderful collaboration as kiddos work through problem sets. This is so wonderful to see and hear.”
