Increasing Executive Functioning Skills

I would love to take this moment and thank you all for such generous donations. Each of my students were given agendas and binder dividers with pockets to use throughout this school year. I also used the first two months of the school year to teach them how to utilize the materials to their fullest potential. Instruction included everything from where to write their daily assignments, planning for long term projects, and organizing notes and papers they receive throughout the day.

Every few weeks, we go through their binders and agendas to make sure that they are following the instructions that I have given them. Although they are not all using the materials to their fullest, I believe that the more I follow up with them, the more organized and independent they will become.

For the most part, my students now understand the benefits of planning and being organized. They know that these skills help them be more time efficient with work, and they are enjoying their increased free time.
