Empowering Students Through Culture, Confidence, and Community.

Funded Sep 25, 2024

Thanks to your generous support, our projects made a lasting impact on our students and our South Shore community. For Latino Student Union (LSU), the snacks you provided helped create a welcoming space where students felt encouraged to participate and connect. LSU students worked together to create a beautiful community altar for Day of the Dead, inviting school staff and families to honor their loved ones by contributing photos or meaningful objects. This project brought participants together, creating a powerful moment of cultural celebration and remembrance. Your support also allowed two 7th grade volunteers to shine during a special presentation for the 3rd grade team, where they explained the meaning and symbolism behind the altar with confidence and pride.

Your contributions also made our Picture Day Hair Glam event a huge success! With your help, we served about 35 students who received haircuts or styled looks to help them feel prepared and picture-ready. Sixteen amazing volunteers donated their time and talents to create an uplifting and fun evening filled with music, snacks for participants, and good vibes. Thanks to the tools and supplies you helped provide, our stylists created and perfected hairstyles, and students were able to take home a few items to keep their looks intact for Picture Day. Every student served, was serving 😉

These events were truly special moments of care and community for our students. Your support made all of this possible--thank you for contributing to these wonderful experiences and making a meaningful difference!”

With gratitude,

Ms. Jazmin
