Growing as a Counselor

Due to your contribution, I was able to incorporate books into social emotional learning. When I was reading "Enemy Pie" , the students were hanging onto every word and thoroughly enjoyed the story. We had a great discussion of how we sometimes make judgements based on the first interaction we have with people and how sometimes our first impressions can be wrong. They wanted me to bring in supplies so we can create our own 'enemy pie.' I love being able to use bibliotherapy in counseling. The book's message will reach each student who reads it.”

With your generous donation, I was able to laminate coping strategies for my students. They are able to have that as a reminder, on their desk or on their person, to use their coping skills in a moment of anxiousness.
Some of my students that I work with, have autism. The hand 2 hand emotion matching set was a great introduction into how emotions may come across on our faces. In addition, it opened up discussion on what situations these emotions may be felt.
