Pre-K Sensory Needs
Funded Sep 19, 2024Our students have been using the materials you have provided for our classroom daily.
The wobble stools are so helpful for students who want to focus on our whole group lessons but struggle to remain seated. Previously, some students may have breifly visited whole group instruction and then walked away. Now those students are able to stay leaning or wobbling and engaged in the lesson for much longer periods of time. The chairs give students the freedom to perch and observe to their own comfort level. We use them at least 3 times a day, every day!
The sensory-seeking students in our classroom have been loving the new pourable sensory materials. They spent so much time pouring, scooping, dumping, weighing and sorting the materials in and out of the sensory bin. For some students, this is a way for them to learn more about cause and effect, volume and size or textures. I believe that the most important role the sensory materials have played is in helping children self regulate. The sensory table is open every day in our classroom and students often gravitate toward it when they need to calm their nervous system.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Nicole
