For Everlasting Mental Health Materials
Funded Sep 14, 2024The projects played a pivotal role in sparking my students' curiosity and making learning feel more relevant by bridging theoretical knowledge with real-world applications. By encouraging students to apply what they learn in the classroom to practical, tangible projects, I've seen their motivation grow as they begin to understand the true value of their studies beyond exams and textbooks. One of the most powerful ways to foster this connection is by giving students some degree of choice or autonomy in how they approach a project. When they can shape the direction of their work, they feel more invested in the process and are more likely to engage deeply with the material.
For example, when students have the opportunity to choose a real-world problem to solve or explore a topic that personally interests them, the learning process becomes more meaningful. They are no longer passive recipients of information but active participants in their own education. This sense of ownership leads to greater creativity, critical thinking, and perseverance, as they see the impact of their learning on tangible outcomes. In turn, this not only deepens their understanding of the subject matter but also boosts their confidence and motivation to continue exploring new ideas.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Samantha Ruiz
