• Snacks and Hygiene!

  These supplies have made a huge difference for my students! I have been able to create a hygiene closet where students know they can access things they need. Students have felt more comfortable in school, since they have been able to use these supplies to avoid barriers due to their hygiene. I have also been able to use the snacks to help students with hunger and as PBIS incentives. Students are definitely motivated by rewards involving these snacks!

  My students were so excited to see all of these items arrive at school! They knew that they could benefit directly from these supplies and that they could have access to them whenever they need. Students have also asked if they could take additional supplies for their siblings/parents, which I have allowed because everyone should have access to hygiene items!”

• Lettuce Grow!

  Thank you so much for your contributions. Thanks to you, I was able to get materials for a hydroponic garden in my classroom! This is going to be a fantastic STEM opportunity for my students. In the 3rd quarter, our science unit is on plants, so this will go hand-in-hand with this curriculum and help students to learn firsthand! They will be so excited to check up on their plants everyday and see how much they have grown.

  I am also incredibly grateful for students having the opportunity to garden because they live in an urban area and may not have ever had the opportunity to grow plants before. This will also help them to learn where their food comes from. I plan on growing lettuce and strawberries, and assuming all goes well we will be able to eat them at harvest time! This can also alleviate food insecurity. I cannot wait to do this experiment with my students.

• Personal Hygiene and Snacks

  Thank you so much for your contributions. Thanks to you, I was able to get materials for a self-care closet and snacks to provide students with if they are ever hungry.

  I took the deodorant, chapstick, and lotion and put it in a bin that I keep behind my desk. If a student ever needs any of these items, they can go grab it with no questions asked! They have used all of these items, and it has greatly helped with their hygiene. They can't get any learning done if they are worried about getting their basic needs met, so you have helped them meet some of these needs.

  The snacks, specifically the breakfast bars, have made a huge difference for some of these students. The school provides all students with free breakfast and lunch, but we have many issues with students' attendance and tardiness, so sometimes they miss a meal. I have been able to give them snacks from this collection when they miss a meal. Again, you have greatly helped them meet their basic needs, which helps them be able to be more concentrated on learning.

• PBIS Incentives

  Thank you so much for your contributions. Thanks to you, I was able to get candy and prize box items to use as PBIS incentives!

  The candy has also been a huge hit! Students receive candy for positive behaviors, for working hard, and for iReady practice! iReady is a website where students practice math at the level that they test in to. The majority of my students are behind grade level, so this website helps them with where they are at in hopes of bringing them up to grade level. If they pass a lesson with an 80% or greater, they get a piece of candy! This has already helped them improve their scores tremendously. Without your kindness, they wouldn't be as motivated to improve their test scores!

  The items for the prize box have been multi-functional, as they are incentive just like the candy, but they are also fidget toys, so students can use them to improve focus during class! This keeps them more engaged during lessons, and therefore they are gaining more from instruction!

• Calm Down Corner

  Thank you so much for your contributions. Thanks to you, I was able to get a bean bag chair for my calm-down corner, and two STEM toys for students to play with when given the opportunity.

  The bean bag chair has been huge for our classroom. Students feel very comfortable in this area now, and it has become a great space for them to calm down, take deep breaths, and destress so that they can get back to their learning. The bean bag chair transformed this space and it is used dozens of times throughout every single school day.

  The magnet and gravity toys have been incredibly popular amongst my students. They love to play with them, and they also benefit their learning because even if they don't realize it, they are exploring STEM concepts when playing with these toys! They love every opportunity that they get to use these toys.
