Inspire Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking, and Communication
Funded May 21, 2017Well after a long wait over the summer, we finally received our classroom set of OSMOs! The students were so thrilled to see the gift box when it arrived. We have been enjoying our "OFF" day each week - Osmo Fun Friday! The students are having so much fun playing the tangram game, coding with Awbie, coding music jams, pretending to be pizza parlor owners with the pizza game, practicing their spelling words with the words game, and math facts with the math game.
This past week was exceptionally inspiring, when I graded my students' spelling tests. I saw a significant increase in the number of correct responses! I really think that playing the words game is helping to improve their spelling.
What I love about Osmo, and all the educational games the students are playing, is that they are also working collaboratively and supporting each other. It is creating a wonderful learning environment in the classroom.
None of this would be possible without YOUR generous donation to this project. Room 43 students today and in the future will continue to benefit for years to come.
With much gratitude and eternal thanks for the grand part you have played in the lives of students you don't even know. YOU MAKE A DIFFERENCE!”
With gratitude,
Ms. Bennett
Curling Up With A Good Nook!
Funded Sep 29, 2012To all my wonderful donors who, once again, came through to support my last Donors Choose Nook project, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your generosity and kindness. Thanks to you, the students of Room 32 are now reaping the benefits of an additional Nook e-reader, bringing the total to 11 in our electronic library.
It is a thrill when I see the students wanting to open a Nook and read. They are taking full advantage of all the bells and whistles that come with the Nook. They are increasing their math skills with some of the apps that I've installed on them, they are utilizing the embedded dictionary when they come across a word they don't know, they love reading the Time for Kids and National Geographic for Kids magazines that I've purchased subscriptions for - they just love them.
I hope you enjoy the photos of the students and take joy in what a difference you have made in the lives of these students.”

Headphones for our Nooks
Funded Feb 20, 2012Well, we were all a jitter with excitement this week as our package from CDW arrived with headphones and headphone splitters. It was like Christmas in February! Your donation to our classroom project has now enabled all the students to be able to listen privately to the many "read to me" stories that have already been downloaded onto the Nooks, and share the excitement with their friends when they listen together!
Your generosity has greatly impacted our classroom. The students today and many in the future will all benefit. You have touched the lives of many children.”

Nutty about Nooks!
Funded Feb 5, 2012What an exciting day we had yesterday when the UPS truck arrived! Yes, thanks to your kind and generous support, two more Nooks were delivered to the classroom, along with four covers to protect them and others. Our electronic library has grown to nine Nooks! There is one Nook for every two children now, and they are thrilled that they are able to have more time with them.
Your support has already made a difference in the lives of my current 4th and 5th grade students. They are always wanting to read now! That's something new for many of them and for me. Just to see the looks on their faces as they explore the newly, downloaded interactive books, or watch them having fun while learning their math facts with the fabulous "Whack-a-Fact" app - well it's just priceless. I hope you enjoy the photos that will be posted shortly.
All the students of Room 32 and eternally thankful to our most supportive donors.”

Nook, Nooks and More Nooks!!
Funded Jan 28, 2012With great delight and dizzying excitement, I write to let you know that our two Nooks and five headphone splitters arrived two days ago. Once again, the students are thrilled to bits that we have managed to increase our electronic library. We are now able to share one Nook for every two students. The headphone splitters allow them to share and listen to the "Read Me" books that have been downloaded for them. They can't get enough of it all!!
If it wasn't for your kind and generous support, this vision of of seeing my students truly engaged in reading activities, would still be a dream. I am grateful to you all. There will be so many students now and in the future that will be impacted by what you have done.”

Funded Jan 24, 2012Goodness gracious!!! Your generous donations helped fund the Nook Tablet project in record time, and even more amazingly, the order processing was lightning fast. Hard to believe, but we received our Nook Tablet and cover today!!! This would never have been possible without your support and generosity.
The students are thrilled that we have added another Nook to our "Electronic Library" and excited for me to download new stories and educational "apps". They are so excited to be reading the interactive books and playing the apps...they don't realize how much they are learning why they are playing.
Thank you again for your support. You have made a difference!”

Having received our Nook Colors through a different project on DonorsChoose, our Nooks are now well protected and in the hands of the students. This classroom project was brought to life by Wasserman Foundation and 4 other donors.Engaging, Exciting, Enthusiastic E-Readers!
Funded Dec 13, 2011It is with such delight that I announce we received our Nook Colors when we returned to school in January. Books and apps have been downloaded and the students are thoroughly engaged, excited and enthusiastic about using them. The dream is coming true....that of students wanting to read, as opposed to being blasé about it. The interactive books are very popular with them, they get to hear the book, touch the pictures, learn new words and enlarge the pictures. The "Whack a Fact" app is a big hit too....they don't realize how much they are learning when they are having so much fun!
If it wasn't for your kind and generous support, this project would still be a dream. You should all feel as proud as I do that you are making a huge difference in the lives of many children.
Thanking you again.”

Ms. Bennett
