Walking for Mental and Physical Health
Funded Sep 10, 2024Thank you so much for your generous contribution to our "Walking for Mental and Physical Health" project. The walking pads you provided have had a great impact on our students. We integrated daily walking sessions into our daily routine. Some of our students have really enjoyed tracking their steps while encouraging some of their other peers to do the same. They expressed how it helps them engage in mindfulness exercises while really focusing on their breathing and overall well-being. We've noticed a positive shift in the students' mood, energy, and focus, both in and outside of the classroom. Some students have said they really enjoy the brain break and movement allowed thanks to the walking pad station.
When the students first received the walking pads, they were thrilled! They couldn't wait to open them up and put them to use. Some students were surprised by how motivated they'd become to set walking goals and track their steps. As they walked together, they began to bond, consistently supported each other, and even set some friendly step challenges. This project has fostered a sense of community and self-care within the classroom, as students are learning the importance of balancing mental and physical health.
Looking ahead, we plan to build on this foundation by introducing more structured activities, such as group check ins and journal entries after our walks, where students can reflect on their emotional and physical well-being. We're excited to continue incorporating these practices into our curriculum and are deeply grateful for your support in making this possible. Your generosity is helping our students develop healthy habits that will benefit them for years to come.”
With gratitude,
Ms. V
